For me it will depend on price

the reason I like the Q2 is price + longevity + stickiness.

I agree but if I is replacing the Q2 then I would guess the price will stay close and it would have more longevity and stick better. Just a guess though.

I don't think it is replacing the Q2. I think it is the "track" version of the street/track Q2.

Yeah, the author of the article said that "We can gather from its Q3 designation that it’s a track-oriented tire, the successor to the street/track-minded Q2" so I concluded that it will be track-only but it also seems that they aren't too sure yet.

Whenever the name implies succession, they usually aim for the same niche. If they're shifting niche, they usually change the name accordingly. I expect the Q3 to target the same street/track niche as the Q2.

LoL. In 1992 only the sponsored racers could get the D364. I used the Hi-Sport until the dunlop rideen came out.

And how we're those tires compared to today? I've talked with several old timers and they have said that today's street tires were in par with their slicks...is that the case?

I never used slicks back in the day so I can't really accurately comment.

Primarily ran Michelin tx11 front and tx23 rear... Then my first zx7rr was used by team kinkos in the wera gnf for the one race weekend. Long story. Anywho, it had fresh 364s on it when I got it.. They were basically a dot race tire with a slick underneath.

I'll get a chance to find out soon Miles. When I used slicks on my RC30 they were incredible, but the biggest difference to DOTs was lean angle. I'm hoping I get a chance to put my Pirelli super corsas to the test at COTA in a few weeks.

Q3s are in stores now. You can get the front and rear set for about 270 so it is an increase of about $10. I think I might try them out.
