I have the stands so thats not an issue. It's just kind of a pain in the ass to do it when you live in an apartment

It would take more than a few changes to pay for something that would guaranteed not gouge your rims. NoMar changers ain't cheap.

Static balancers are cheap and easy, and good enough for daily use. I don't know that I'd trust my first few attempts with one for 100mph+ riding though. I know a guy who is good enough with one that I'd trust it at any speed, but there's definitely a learning curve.

I use to do tire stuff for a living... I wouldn't get the no mar stuff but I know I'm more careful than the shop. I would get the harbor freight stuff if I do it.

I think it was about 60 for the tire changer and another 60 or so for the balancer.

Did they have the motorcycle attachment? That's the part that has been missing. They've always sold the tire changer by itself, but it didn't have the arm that goes above the changer and the pin that goes down through the middle.

If they have the full motorcycle setup, which Harbor Freight? I've been looking for one of those.

Static balancers are the way most shops and racers do it...or so I was told once.

I know a lot of track guys that balance their own with static.

As for the tomahawks... No retreads for me thank you. I have known people to swear by them, but mostly stunters or drag racers.

I am not sure I will have to look. I also found this one but not sure how well it works.

Normal type street riding .....Slow and easy, no extreme lean angles, get some heat into them.

Normal acceleration and braking over a period of 50 to 100 miles will put heat into the tire. after that the releasing compound should wear off or burn off.

Check your pressures and put about 100 miles, not knee dragging miles, just heat cycle them.

I have the Harbor Freight model but that arm you mention is no help whatsoever. It's been sitting on a shelf since the day I bought it. If anyone wants it they are welcome to it. With the No-Mar bar and a steel rod through the wheel hub I can change a set of tires in ~5 minutes.
