Sport Rider Coaching 8/23

I'm going to try out the newly refinished ECR this Friday. I'll report back on the track.

It is likely decent right now. Whether it holds up or not is another question.

The track is awesome. Right now the front course is all that is open. It is the grey part in the picture.

Taking the cross-over from 4 through 5C is very fast but it has a big elevation change, down then back up and then down again to 13. At speed it is an interesting experience.

Just superficially the layout of this part hasn't changed much. Getting on the track from the pit now happens before turn 1 where everyone is slowing down anyway. There are some camber changes that are helpful. Of course the track is very smooth.

The setup was easy in that there was no need to bring my own canopy, there was covered parking available. Everything was less crowded than an RS day. There were many fewer people on the track, I had many more opportunities for running alone than I get with RS and Cresson. In spite of this being opening day, and nobody riding at speed on the track before, there was not much in the way of erratic behavior. There was one coach assigned to every two people, so you get coaching feedback every session. They have more days scheduled locally than RS does. Overall better experience than RS. However the cost is significantly higher than RS. It is $295.

And lastly, with due respect for Dave and the fact that he's trying to feed 20 times as many people, the burgers were way better at SRC. Not even on the same scale.

Nice. Hopefully the new surface holds up long term.

I like the looks of the changes in blue.

The upper left in the picture is the main change in the layout. Coming downhill out of 4 will be fast, and it looked like some positive camber going into the right-hand at 5. Going through 6 to 7 to 8 the radii decrease at each corner. I think the back straight from 10 to 11 is the same as it was before. They claim that eventually with the addition of phase 3 the back course will be separable and have it's own pit lane, though I'm not sure exactly how that will work. They say the front grey section is 1.6 mi. and the back will be 1.4 mi. At least for now it is a fantastic surface. Very smooth and better grip in the morning than Cresson. They also claim that eventually they will be running both directions.
