Wear the gear folks

There are so many things wrong here I almost don't know where to begin. Almost. <preach to the choir> Wear the gear. </preach>

This guy takes a really long slide down the highway with his bike partly on top of him. I cannot imagine the road rash. Apparently the person filming saw the guy having issues and started filming because they thought it was just a matter of time. Why the guy continued down the highway when he has issues obvious to even casual observers we don't know.

what? supremely engineered machine with tons of weight on the rear end mixed with a floppy frame and raked front end wobbled? go figure. at least he looked like a bad ass.

on a side note for all you newer guys- a big handful of throttle when the oscillation started would have stopped it. when it doubt- gas it out.

I can get lazy at times, but unless I'm just circling the house on a dirt bike I don't ride without a helmet, gloves and a CE jacket. If there were a way I would wear full leathers commuting to work. It's kind of bassackwards that we armor up for the track and do anything less on the street, where I am riding at higher speeds with other cars, who may not see me, and sometimes are moving in opposite or perpendicular directions to myself.

Bikers come into the hospital sometimes with head injuries and road rash that would have been much less severe if they would have been wearing gear! T-shirt, shorts, flipflops??? Might as well be naked,,,,

I was wearing gear when I wrecked (had road rash) and since my accident, if I am not wearing my one piece leather suit, my jacket and pants zip together.

Yeah, after my first year of riding I always wear a helmet, and usually a jacket and gloves. Helmet saved my life the first and 5th accident, no question about it. And my suit saved me a good bit of rash on my 3rd, and 4th go downs.

Depending on what you consider a go down, 7, 8 if you count hitting a car but not going down. Only 3 of them resulted in a hospital visit though. :)
