I just realized, I never documented my final mileage on my M50 when I sold it. I barely rode it this year, so not a big deal. You can scratch it off the list for me.

A few days ago marked the 1-year anniversary of me picking up the FZ1. 10/15/10: 13,973 miles, 10/15/11: 36,408 miles. Comes out to 22,435 miles in the first year of ownership! (for those of you keeping score, that's also 16,198 YTD).

Final counts:

Versys start odo: 4662
Versys final odo: 15990
Versys total miles: 11328

ZX6R start odo: 2568
ZX6R final odo: 4365
ZX6R total miles: 1797

Dave total miles for 2011: 13,125

Not bad, it beat 1000 miles a month while losing almost two months to injury.

FZ1N:
Start: 20210
End: 38620
Total: 18410

EX250
Start: 19380
End: 24228
Total: 4848

Combined total: 23258

I'd estimate 500 miles of the twofiddy were by guest riders, though...

And just for fun, here's a chart of my mileage accumulation on the FZ1N over the past year. You can see two small gaps in February (the week of snow) and March (week vacation in California), and then a big, 5-week gap when Vic and I moved and the bike sat in Blizz's garage. Then, a near-vertical jump during my ride back to CA, racking up 4500 miles in 2.5 weeks. There was another small gap in July when we went back to HI, and another rapid mileage jump in September during the BARF Hawthorne Rally. Finally, you can tell right when I got a job at then end of October, as my riding dropped off sharply... barely 1500 miles over the last 10 weeks of the year.

Yes, I'm a dork for tracking stuff like this. :-|

Well I forgot about this and was riding over the weekend. So I've racked a few miles. My milage for 2011 was pathetic though. I'll Post a picture to start 2012 with, but I'm not going to try to tally up 2011.

That chart isn't clear enough, can you brake that down to miles per week and over lay it with your MPG for the same week, in addition to a running average of miles per day?

Dude, do you have some weird obsession with mileage data? Even *I* wouldn't have thought to put together a chart like that! But, hey, what the webmaster wants, webmaster gets.

Charts? Charts.

Image

X-axis is numbered by week, 1 through 52.

Blue line is miles ridden per week, against the left-hand Y-axis. You can see a few zeroes in there, as well as the two big spikes during my ride back and the Hawthorne Rally, but for the most part I hovered around 400 miles per week, dropping off towards the end of the year.

Red line is a running average of miles per day, against the right-hand Y-axis. It starts off low because I didn't ride at all during the first 10 days of the year, and it took a bit for the average to recover from that. It climbs steadily through the first few months, takes a big hit in April while I wasn't riding, and then spikes after the ride back at nearly 60 miles per day average. It remains pretty high through the summer, before dropping off a bit in the later part of the year, leaving me with a final year-long average of 51 miles per day.

Finally, the green dots are week-long averages of fuel economy in miles per gallon, again measured along the RH Y-axis. Nothing too interesting there, although you can definitely tell where I installed my speedohealer around week 40, since correcting the speedo resulted in a noticeable drop in fuel economy.

All these numbers are FZ1-exclusive, and do not include any miles ridden on the EX-250 or other bikes.

You're welcome, Matt!

I suspect he's pulling his numbers out of his Bi-wheeled Universal Touring Tracker.

You can see my bikes here: http://www.mileagetracker.org/listBikes.php?id=5072" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can input all fuel and maintenance expenses, set reminders (based on time or miles elapsed) for when maintenance is due, and generate cool graphs like the ones above. Actually, those graphs were generated in Excel, but you can export your records to an excel file, which makes it really easy to manipulate information.

Although there is no good way to ever tell, i wonder how these totals would be different if you don't include "commutes". I live 1/2 a mile from work so mines pretty close. i'm looking at about 9000miles since i bought the bike

But if you was to give each person the time they commute back and then what would they do with it? I would be riding I am sure. That would then allow me to get even more miles as I would stay away from traffic... lights... and getting on base. Give me 2 hours a day to ride and see how many miles I end up with.

There really isn't. I could speculate but it would just be a guess. Right now I ride 45 miles each way and it takes about an hour each way. If I had that time to just ride I would emagine I would get at least 60 miles per hour averaged as it would be back road and above the posted speed. Again just a guess and then would I ride for that time each day?... not really sure but I think I would. I am mad now that I dont get to ride more on top of my commute.

When I was living 3/4 mile from work I had to work hard to keep up 12k miles per year. Now it's a whole lot easier.

I still say commuting counts, because in TX it means you're committing to ride when it's cold and when it's really hot. We've got plenty of club members who wimp out in both conditions, and their annual mileage reflects that.

Then you have nuts like sckego who commute a long way *plus* ride a ton besides commuting and end up over 20k miles per year.

Edit: I also track the number of days I commute in a year versus the number of days I can possibly commute. For 2011 I was over 80%. This year I'm shooting for over 90%. That's discounting days like after my crash when I couldn't ride a motorcycle.
