FWMR trackday?

So as was mentioned, this may be as close to an opportunity as having an all FWMR track day as possible. Please select '2' dates only and maybe we can all go with the popular vote. I think having two weeks to decide gives us plenty of time try and set this up.

"We have created a program for the numerous experienced motorcycle track riders that allow them track time at MotorSport Ranch. This program is designed to be something between a motorcyle track day and a full membership at the Ranch.
All riders wishing to participate in these motorcycle guest days must demonstrate previous track experience and meet all MotorSport Ranch safety requirements, including wearing the appropriate riding gear. They will ride in regular member session throughout the day. Please understand this is not an instruction course and is open only to experienced riders.
The cost to these motorcycle guests is $150.00 plus tax with a guarantee of at least five 30 minute sessions.
Pre-registration is highly recommended if you wish to guarantee your guest day at the track. Simply call the Ranch at 817-512-3162 and provide your information and credit card payment over the phone. It is possible that walk-ups can be done the morning of the event, but if our guest limit is full, then you will not be able to participate.

The Guest Day schedule will be as follows:

8:00 - 8:30 Sign in upstairs at the Clubhouse

8:30 - 9:00 Mandatory riders meeting

Aternating sessions with other vehicles will continue throughout the day

5:00 Track closed

Motorcycle Guest Days will be conducted on the following dates in 2011.

Sunday, September 18th

Saturday, October 15th

Friday, November 18th

Sunday, December 11th

The track configuration for each these days will be the 1.7 mile course running counter-clockwise.

Best regards,
Jack Farr "

I have more questions before I vote, like, will a bunch of strangers be out there too, or is the plan to have enough FWMR people to fill up all teh guest spots?

if it's "one level for all", then I will want to do a couple more track days that have a "Level One". I reckon I many be too slow for this.

I'll be the one to say it.

If we took *all* the guest spots, it's a dick move on the club's part.

I've got no problem with a bunch of us running together like we're going to on Oct 1, but if we shut out the public we suck.

Totally disagree, that's not dick at all that's just people wanting to have a good time with each other and share the experience together

I don't see it this way, its money, they open up spots for $$ people buy them, if we fill them all so what

NOW if we bought them all up and even bought up spots that we don't have people for just to have a shut out, thats a dick move.

I agree that if we just so happen to take up all the guest spots, that's not our fault because each of us would've paid to ride on the track. Part of the reason why I want to get everyone settled on a date is because we simply don't know how many spots will be open. Everyone that has knowledge of what's taking place has the same opportunity to purchase their spots as well. We will be out there with other track members so for all we know, they only have 5 guest spots open, or 35 spots. It's no different than being too late to sign up for ridesmart if they are already full.

Would it be a dick move if more of us had signed up for Oct 1st and ended up getting all the spots from ridesmart? I dont think it is. Even if we purchased all the spots and didnt all run it I still dont think that would be a dick move either as it is still the same money for the track..... no more a dick move than us getting the money to rent the track for a day. Still it would shut the track down for other people that would have been riding it that day. Just my opinion and we all know what they say about those. :))

My guess is this will be a standard open track day for members.

Typically what the ranch does, is members are allowed to bring a guest or 2 (for fee) to play on the open track. From what the message from Jack said, it sounds like this is just another one of those days, only they are making the guest portion open to anyone that wants to, not just friends of members.

The last time we are on the 1.3 the 1.7 was a member thing. There were half a dozen cars, and 3 or 4 bikes. With it being open like it will be I expect it'll be a bit fuller but depending how many people actually know about it, I would guess the track will still be rather empty.

Their member track time is split into 30 min sessions, one session cars, one session bikes and it's more of a practice/testing situation where people rarely run the full session. If you're uncomfortable at the possibility of being passed in a turn, or being passed closely you probably don't want to run but I wouldn't expect too much of that so even if you're running a level one pace I wouldn't worry about it and come on out and join us.

Since it's pretty clear we're not going to make the first of these events, we could have a scouting party stop by the track and check it out so we'd have a better idea of what we'd be getting into.

I like the idea of a scouting party. The more i think about it and hear the more i've become uneasy. I just don't want to get myself or more important, someone else into a situation that i caused because i'm not running the same pace

It is the responsibility of the faster rider to keep out of the situation. Only way I feel you would cause a situation is if you get to risky and try to pass when you shouldnt. Other than that they should wait to pass till it is safe..... everyone should.

Yeah, the problem though is that slower riders also tend to not be anywhere close to the race line, and they do "silly" things like braking way too early, taking weird lines through turns, etc. What you think may be a safe pass can turn bad on you if the slow rider makes a sudden line adjustment.

It's aways the responsibility of the rider in back to not hit the rider in front of them, but sometimes the rider in front makes that incredibly difficult at unexpected times.
