Tell us a little about yourself and say hello to the gang. We would like to hear about who, what, and why you ride as well as how you found us.

Breathe easy, fartymarty is here.

Post by fartymarty » Tue Jun 25, 2013 4:25 pm

I was searching through motorcycle forums (on my phone) that used tapatalk and discovered this group. I don't think I'll ever be a meatball
but I hope to be able to contribute something here eventually. I'm old and slow and I still haven't taken the ERC (I need to get to that) and my interests
are currently more toward the road touring and adventure /dual-sport side of motorcycling. I raced motocross in my youth (Husky 250 ; CZ400)
and I still occasionally have vivid dreams of going over jumps (they are much much higher jumps in my dreams than they ever were in real life, I'm
not sure what that's about. Maybe a variant of the ubiquitous falling dream? ). I hope to at least go on some beginner rides and moderate
ones and some meetups. Still I think I'll be the "old guy" compared to most here, that's OK, someone has to be. It's best that the guy
named fartymarty is at the rear of the pack anyway, right? (pity the tail gunner.) I recently found myself leaning to the right of my Concours in right hand turns
so perhaps with some proper training in my future I may become more of an aggressive rider. Time will tell, for now anyway 4.5 mph over the
limit is usually my limit (on pavement), butt crack aligned with the bike's center line and my knees stay well tucked in.
Regardless of my eventual forum/club/group stature, I just zoomed ahead of all those forum members with zero posts.

Interests: Motorcycles; Big Bend N.P.; farting around in the garage (aka woodworking and machining and making crap that'll never work);
movies; travel (by any means, but 2 wheels is best); generally enjoying retirement on a modest budget. (I've also been told that I must enjoy
using parenthesis because I over parenthesize when posting. {however, I disagree.} [ :-) ])

Other Forums of interest: Big Bend Chat; DRRiders; Two Wheeled Texans; Concours Owners Group; ZGGTR Fanatics

current rides: '10 Kawasaki Concours 14; '07 Suzuki DR650; '75 Honda Trail 90.

Welcome to the boards. Come meet most of us at bike night this Thursday. You will be surprised to find that we have a great variety of different types of riders that are amongst us. Everyone rides for their reasons and have their own type of style that they prefer. You may enjoy our beginner and moderate rides since they are right up your alley of a little over the speed limit. Give it a try and if it isn't for you, then no big deal :)

Welcome. Chances are good you are not the oldest to ride with us and certanly would not be the first to join us on a Concours. We have a bike night tomorrow if you're free. Come on by and say hello, we won't bite, at least most of us won't.
