according to the comments both riders got busted up pretty good. This is why swerving when possible is better than brakes.

Yeah, that was the same incident that was just discussed in sckego's revived thread.

Yeah, but you did it in such a way that it seemed almost new...and it did make me look.

That is crazy. Speaking of tws im think I might try and attend the track weekend down there. Nov 22 and 23. I have heard the tws is a very fun track to ride.

If TWS was closer and in better shape it would be my favorite trackChucls wrote:That is crazy. Speaking of tws im think I might try and attend the track weekend down there. Nov 22 and 23. I have heard the tws is a very fun track to ride.

I spoke to some of the instructors who were there that day. They said the Level 1 group was pretty unruly and had a lot of crashes. It seems odd that the southern tracks average a higher crash count than Cresson/ECR.

I blame it on all of those crazy Houston drivers!RC30rdr wrote:I spoke to some of the instructors who were there that day. They said the Level 1 group was pretty unruly and had a lot of crashes. It seems odd that the southern tracks average a higher crash count than Cresson/ECR.

Re: Anyone hear anything about this TWS crash?
Probably just proximity to more overall population...Houston area, Austin, maybe even San Antonio...which means the squid count rises proportionally.RC30rdr wrote:I spoke to some of the instructors who were there that day. That being said...I hope I don't find myself as a statistic.
Seriously, not having been to either track, is there something inherent in the tracks themselves that leads to more crashing, especially if you're riding at or near the limit?

Re: Anyone hear anything about this TWS crash?
I knew TWS was pretty fast, wasn't sure about HT, but that makes sense when you see the endo they dude pulls.
I've got a "newbie" kind of question. Is doing that front brake endo (or a stoppie) possibly with ABS activated?
The S3 is my first ABS bike, and I put a few pretty hard bites on it at Cresson to keep from a-holing a few that race down the straights only to grind to a halt at a corner. It stopped well, never felt anything at all abnormal, very seamless in fact. Confidence inspiring, I just don't know if I was ever at a threshold that was going to put me in over my head (or on my head).

Re: Anyone hear anything about this TWS crash?
Depends on the bike and settings, on the RSV4 you can set it to allow the rear to come up to a certain angle and hold before it sets the bike back down or set it to allow the rear wheel to barely come up at all. That being said I don't think it's fool proof (haven't tested it).LonestarCBR wrote:I knew TWS was pretty fast, wasn't sure about HT, but that makes sense when you see the endo they dude pulls.

Re: Anyone hear anything about this TWS crash?
It is only 3 hours away and it is in OK shape. It is my favorite track. Not to pigeon hole the rest of the track but I can't imagine that there will ever be anything as purely joyous as the mighty Turn 1 anywhere close to us again.fixxervi6 wrote:If TWS was closer and in better shape it would be my favorite trackChucls wrote:That is crazy. Re: Anyone hear anything about this TWS crash?
Like fixxer said it depends on the system, but in its most basic sense ABS protects the bike from front tire skids. In a stoppie the wheel is still spinning. It *would* be a skid if your tires were cold, but high-traction tires with heat in them mean you just flip right over. ABS isn't designed to save you from that situation, although it's possible it could depending on how it's implemented.LonestarCBR wrote:I've got a "newbie" kind of question.
