Here's a view of an Indy car you don't see very often.

Crazy that he was able to walk away from that.

Kind of reminds me of the old song "Wildwood Weed" (take a trip, never leave the farm). Take a flight, never leave the track. NASCAR has done a good job of making their cars less apt to fly in these situations, but I'm not sure what you do to one of the mega-go carts. Went to the Indy Car race at TMS a few years ago, quite an experience. Those cars are so very fast...and loud.

Yeah, for practice at Indy they've already gone over 230mph, and there is talk they may hit 240mph this year.

And those are some tight corners at Indy. It's the only Indy car race I consistently watch each year...so much tradition and history.

I've been to a cpl Indy races at TMS. The sound is soooo sexy. I love the startup and idle growls.

I try to watch it every year as well. Funny thing, when I lived in Indiana, could of cared less about the race. Now that I've moved out I think I've seen it every year. Although I did fall asleep a couple of times watching it. ha!

Just read where after the third Chevy going airborne this week, they finally decided to back-off the horsepower some, and top qualifiying speed was 226 after that change.

yeah, kind of a bummer. Made this use race trim aero package, race trim boost, and no championship points for qualifications.

Was interesting to see that with the more down force and reduced boost that most everyone just kept the throttle fully pinned going into turns at 230-232. One of the TV guys who use to race said the fastest he ever went into turn one was 252. That's just insane to think about.

In the immortal words of John Lennon, in that great American classic Forest Gump, "it's easy if you try Dick". :) And no, I'm not calling you "dick". :D

But yeah, that's honkin' fast. Fun if you pull it off, at the very least interesting if you don't.

Kids nowadays, seriously, use commas every time they take a breath. They have no idea how to use punctuation and they don't know how to spell or proper sentence structure. It is very annoying! I am serious about the commas after every breath (or pause). I have had several of these college students tell me this.

LOL, I was going with the "Grammarly" style joke there. Without comma: "It's easy if you try Dick." With comma: "It's easy if you try, Dick." Bad joke, good, but bad!!! LOL

I know what you meant. I have been battling a headache all week...just ask my old man. So, with that, I can only be serious since I am trying to ignore the pain but it doesn't work. Oh well, life goes on. I am still alive.

I feel the sudden urge to dance to "More Than a Woman" with... I don't know, a Segway? That's the closest, most accessible contraption that resembles #5! Ha! What was this post originally about? Ah yes a race car tanning it's under carriage. I wonder if it thought "No Disassemble!!!"

Finally got around to watching the race this weekend. Was a damn good race, with some weird incidents. One guy couldn't get the car into gear to start the warm up laps, then 2 others crashed out turn 1 of the first lap, two cars bumped during a yellow flag, crazy accident in pit lane took out all 3 cars from one team and injured two pit crew guys, but the last 5-10 laps was some amazing racing.

I just watched the French MotoGP race last night...some serious racing with about 5 to go...for fourth place. Le Mans is a nasty looking track at those kinds of speeds. The Italy MotoGP race was much faster, 212 mph, wow.

Somehow I didn't get Indy recorded, and was traveling that day. Can't believe Juan Pablo won, I guess that means he most definitely should stay with Indy cars, he couldn't hack it in NASCAR.
