Glove suggestions

Post by DarcShadow » Mon Jun 15, 2015 5:00 pm

I need a new set of gloves. Outside of MotoLiberty is there any place around that has a decent selection? Since gloves vary so much and hands are sensitive I won't order online, want to try them on and see how they feel before buying.

I have found Sedici fit me great. For riding around gloves I like my Fox dirt bike gloves (armored). Best set of mesh gloves I have worn. All at Cyclegear

cycle gear has alpinestar GP pluses for 1/2 off making them $100, just have to find the store with your size. Also i really really like the Sedici racing gloves. But with that said, the best gloves i've owned have been the RS Taichi

I have Astars and Sedici both from Cycle Gear. The Sedici have air scoops on the knuckles and vent well. The Astars are just all-around good and what I wear most.

I'm a big fan of RS Taichi. Current gloves are Knox and I've had to replace several fingertips.

I like the Bilt gloves. I have used the same pair for about 2 years and they are just now starting to fall apart. I bought a pair of Alpine Stars once and they fell apart within a few months. I'll never buy them again.

I might try Sedici for my next pair if they have something I like.

Hit up Cycle Gear. They actually have a huge selection of gloves and they have a clearance rack with plenty to choose from as well.

A little side note for Cycle Gear. Through the 21st they have a promo going on where if you buy a $75 gift card, they have a few different items you can choose from for free. These items of course may or may not be of interest to you.

BUT, if you need gloves, buy a $75 gift card and get your free item, then use the card to buy your gloves. I'm just saying...

I actually wore some Bilt gloves for a few years because they have a 5-year guarantee, and I wanted to see how well they would honor the guarantee considering I do good to get gloves to last a year. Naturally, they would wear out after a few months, but I'd just take them into Cycle Gear and they'd replace them no questions asked and I didn't even have to keep up with a receipt. At first the Bilt's seemed like they were much better quality and after about the 4th pair, they just seemed to have got more and more cheaply made, and the last pair tore after about a week, so I decided to give up and switched.

I got a pair of summer Sedici's and they seem to be a much better quality compared to the Bilt's and I'm still on my first pair that I've had for about a year now and they still aren't showing any major signs of wear, so they definitely seem well worth the money.

I like the Alpine Star SMX gloves but I go through a set every year. I will be going with something different this time when replacing them.

I have a set of Scorpion SG3 gloves and they have held up pretty well. Bought them last year, but I have had to repair some of the stitching on them myself. It's funny because the only repairs I've made were on the left hand. The stitching around the index finger came loose, but I was able to re-sew them using some multi-threaded embroidery thread. Much stronger than the stock stitching. Had them about a year now and the repair I did over 8 months ago is going strong.

On each of my Knox gloves, they used some weird material on the index and middle finger tips. After 2+ years, it wore through. Moto Liberty has a leather repair guy who replaced all 4 fingertips for $30. Barring a huge accident, I should easily get another few years out of em.

Heck, my old RS Taichis got 5 years of use and they're still in good shape.

Remember to clean/condition leather at least annually. It really does help.

Might find a glove bargain here.
