Went over to the italian darkside.

Post by MattStrada » Mon Aug 24, 2015 9:36 am

Well with all the all the crazy fun roads I was doing really long rides and the r1 was beating me up.
So I decided to go for fast and comfortable.
Did an almost 8hr ride yesterday with a 30 min lunch break and the only thing that was sore was my rear.

NICE! This is exactly why I bought an S3, less body torture.

Matt, we've never met. Do I recall you relocating a while back, or are you still in Fort Worth?

I thought about the GS, but I don't expect I'll ever take it offroading thus why I went with the multi. Better street bike.

The only thing I found that I might change is added a deflector at the top of the windscreen. I dont know if it's my RF1100 or how the wind hits me but it's so loud now.

My GS had one of those, I ripped that crap off, caused a lot of turbulence on the top of the windscreen.

I think it's gotta be one of the ugliest bikes on the market.

Take that with what it's worth cause I think the GS is a good looking bike while most think it's ugly

I hate to say it, no I don't, take a look at the profiles of both of those cycles, they look very similar. Angry birds.

The GS is more off road oriented and the Duc will have a much better motor for the street but similar machines for sure.

I lean toward the Duc personally, but probably wouldn't buy either for the street since they are twins. I owned one twin street bike and vowed it would be my last.

now now, mine is a "boxer" lets get it right

The boxer is a big reason why I wanted the GS, for it's intended purpose that engine is marvelous

For a performance machine however I have no interest in a twin.

I would totally rock this thing tho:

I find this one quite fascinating but unless there is a MAJOR difference in the motor/electronics over the GS (I don't think there is) then this would be a frustrating bike to ride fast:

Okay, you got me there. I like the R9T for sure, it's just cool. And if that's the the new R1200RS, I saw one of those in Plano last month and it was really sweet.

That being said, a twin is a twin is a twin. :)

Ducati sells it as 4 bikes in one but I think it's really three, yes it will go offroad and the suspension softens up the 17in wheel is a problem.

for offroad
KTM1190>GS>Duc
for street
Duc>GS>KTM.
