Yeah, doing what I do, duplicating issues is 95% of the battle. Riding with the customer is helpful, but I don't think Rick wants some sweaty mechanic riding on the back of the ape with him....

Video of the problem though removes all doubt it occurred, and shows the exact conditions that cause it.

Well got a call today, that can't reproduce the issue however they have contacted Aprillia and they insist that I need a software update - no statement on if it will fix my issue.

Supposedly it will make it "like a whole new bike" with a kick up in horsepower so the dealer is going to put it all back together, flash it, and let me see if it still does it so I should have her back soon, hopefully fixed.

I have a video of us stopping in the middle of the road (an intersection I think it was) while he tries to get it started...does that help? :)

I don't have the audio, which would have highlighted his frustration. :-)

Haha. Too bad. The "I hate this Italian piece of shit motorcycle and I'm trading it in for a triumph" would have been great to have future proof of.

I've posted one "test" video on my You-Tube. I was learning to use the program. I'm started on edited out the junk and stitching together all of the good stuff now. I have about 10-12 hours I'm thinking, so it takes a little while (for me at least).

I've been carrying this club in that department for a long long time. I'm more than happy to share some of that with my Triumph borthers

Well, honestly, if you're cool enough to select a Triumph...then about as cool as you need to be. I say use the Force on those less fortunate.

Got a call back, they have the new tune on the bike and then have since been able to reproduce the issue

Aprilia insists the valves are too tight and that has to be what is causing the issue - the dealer never thought to check the mileage cause the bike is new, they were rather shocked at how many miles I managed to put on the bike.

Meanwhile, I have a small fleet of f4i turds that simply refuse to die. A couple of them are so scraped together and abused that it makes me queasy. I wish they would just die. But they keep
banging right along, and marking their territory all over the damn garage.

Well I was slightly concerned about not buying Japanese, but when the thing is running right, it runs very very good.

I was hanging out with one of the guys from Eurosport last night, and his take on Aprilia was that they either run well or fail catastrophically, with little in between. I'm not entirely sure that I buy that, but I feel that its a bit like dating a model--its expensive and high maintenance, but when it goes well, its awesome. However, when things go south, it quickly escalates into all sorts of drama...

Okay, then IF you can get it running, let's make a club track bike out of it. And be sure it's nicely insured.

Nice! You've got a nice bike, but I can't say as I blame you. If I were going maximus sportbikeus I think that's where I'd spend my money as of today. Everything I read says it's the best overall for the street. I look forward to seeing it in the purchase thread.
