Re: BMW HUD Helmet
Cool, although it's mounted in the helmet so it's not technically a HUD, but rather an HMD.
Size wise, pretty damn big yes, but it's actually a pretty decent size when you compare it to the helmet for the JSF. You got to start somewhere. Give them a few years and revisions of it and it'll be down to comfortable dimensions in no time.

Re: BMW HUD Helmet
I know this, HUD in cars is outstanding, and honestly, a huge safety feature. More so on bikes I would think.

Re: BMW HUD Helmet
I don't know, is it really? How often, if ever, do you look at the speedo? As a Ride Leader I'd look at it often, but when I was just out for a ride, or following someone else, I rarely, if ever look at it.

Re: BMW HUD Helmet
Honestly, in my HUD I'd want Collision alerts and a moving 3d map showing the upcoming roads. That would be valuable to me. Just speeds wouldn't be enough.

Re: BMW HUD Helmet
You're supposed to be providing your own collision alerts. Would you like a barcolounger installed also?
The info that was provided in the HUDs I've had in cars I've owned, and loaners provided a level of safety for a number of things.
Do a test sometime...driving down the highway at 80, glance at the speedo, glance at fuel, glance at the radio dial, whatever you choose...see how much distance you cover in the amount of time it takes you to look down, get a quick focus on what you want to see, then refocus on the road. It may surprise you.
With HUD, you can see all of these things and never take your eyes off the road. People may not like the expense of HUD, for example, but if a person is being honest, you can't argue it's an improvement in the focusing-on-the-road aspect of driver safety.
This of course is a personal opinion...but at least a more experienced one that I normally give.
And I want radar detector alerts on my HUD also please.

Re: BMW HUD Helmet
I only want a HUD when I am using GPS and the roads show up on the display. Otherwise it is more of a distraction.

Re: BMW HUD Helmet
Hud on the track that shows the track your position and the other bikes positions would be cool.

Re: BMW HUD Helmet
HUD is something I always select when searching for my cars.... I love it.
I want to see those blind corners coming up. I want to know where other bikes are around me. I want to know when that jack wagon in his pickup decides to start to pull out from a gas station on my right while I'm looking left.
