Saying hello (again), and introducing my new bike

Tell us a little about yourself and say hello to the gang. We would like to hear about who, what, and why you ride as well as how you found us.

Saying hello (again), and introducing my new bike

Post by sckego » Tue Jan 30, 2007 1:40 pm

Hey all -

I'm pretty sure i've introduced myself on here before, but the board seems to have been updated and my old thread lost. I made it out to one group ride and the Laguna GP watching party at F&H last season, and I hope to be a bit more involved this coming season. Anyway, I just started up this thread as an excuse to show off my new toy. Its a 2004 VFR. I picked it up in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, with zero miles on the clock, and got back to Fort Worth Sunday afternoon with the odo reading 1,080. Yeah, it was a bit cold on Sunday, but I survived, and I'm back... now someone buy my SV so I can pay for this thing :D

I think that's the first Honda I've seen with a single-sided swingarm. Good looking bike either way

Necessary considering it is a V4.

Nice bike!

Glad you made it back in one piece! :D It's about time we had some more Honda's with duals in the group. I was beginning to think that I had the only Heat Seeking signature around.

Must have been a hell of a deal to go up to NC after her, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the difference in power and comfort. Catch you on the next ride.

Hey Kegan, I was wondering who's it was out in the parking lot. Good luck with selling your SV.

Hey guys, what are the rules and regulations regarding awarding of the "Iron-butt challenge"? I thought it was 1000 miles in 24 hours....(?)

The Iron Butt is 1K miles in 24 hours, but it has to be documented at the start and finish by someone like law enforcement.

I saw a think a few years back, the guy documented his start and stop by using a gas station receipt. Although, it looks like it's not that simple any more. Check out http://www.ironbutt.com for a full listing of what you have to do to get credit from them.

AND one that you pay for!! Still, that kind of miles in a day is some HARD riding. Even on the Beemer, the most I've ever done was a little over 700. Now THAT was a trip ... temp swings from 98 to 40 from here to Eureka Springs (with one missed turn that added 100 miles!).

yeah but depending on the route it doesn't have to be. I did 900 miles in just over 12 hours once, and 4 hours of that was in the ran, then made the return trip in right at 10 hours.
