Hello from DD

Post by DemonDuck » Sat Apr 03, 2010 7:50 am

Hello everyone,

Well I found yall through cyclewerkz. I ride a 08 zx 14 usually with my brother and a couple of friends if we can ever get together at the same. I live in Mineral Wells and simply love to ride... slow sometimes, fast alot of the time but only when it is at low risk if there is such a thing. I am not the guy that cuts off cars or rides between lanes to get around cars ect. I am the guy that will get up to stupid speed if I have a clear lane to do it in and like to do it even more if there is someone else that will stay with me. I enjoy  good times like any other. I have been as far as mid oklahoma riding the bike so im not against long rides .. in fact I am thinking about doing the 911 ride which will be a very long one from TX. I look forward to meeting everyone and riding from time to time if the schedule permits.

That sounds like a fast-moderate rider to me.

I will make every effort to be there Thursday but it might not be till 1030-1100 or so.
As far as a fast moderate rider... im not sure where I would be in the whole scheme of things... I like twisties as much as someone with a 1400 can. I have never dragged a knee or even footpeg but my brother says I get to close to the peg for his taste and one day I want to drag a knee... just dont want to follow it with the elbow and back and other knee ect. I like going to the drag strip but I am by no means a pro... still learning my launch as I have only been a couple times. Fastest 1/8 was 7.56 I think at 103 I think. I am still working on wheelies as in powering them up only... it dont scare me when they come up from power but have not convinced myself to clutch em up yet. I have hit the governer 1 time and would do it again given a good open stretch with no trafic and good visibility but I dont like staying there for long (hurts my neck lol). Well that is about all I can tell you about my riding. All in all I like to have fun while trying to keep it safe as possible (which is why I think im going to like you guys). Sorry about my horrible writing and spelling skills (something else I need to work on).

we generally dont go out balls to the wall, but somethimes our corners are faster than some can handle. Balls to the wall rides are advanced, and you have to be given an invitation. Those arent really announced at all because we dont encourage everyone to ride like that.

I dont think I would be ready for an advanced ride right now anyway so it is all good. I understand completely on the way yall do it and honestly I think your policies are good ones so far that I have seen.

Welcome to the boards, DD. Try to make Bike Night if you can and get to know some of the group. Not too many drag strip guys, but then again, you never know who may be in the lane next to you. :D We DO enjoy the ride and have a lot of good riders in the group. If you're wanting to see what that bike can do ... and what YOU can do on it, we always have track day events that give you a chance to learn and be safe doing it. We help out the new guys so that they don't get intimidated by the first time on the track. It's a BLAST and probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Hope to meet up with you some time soon.

Hey if I can take my 14 on the twisties and the track days yall do then why not put yours on the strip a few times? You might do better than you think and it is all fun anyway. Thanks for the replies guys and I will be at bikenight Thursday. Next time I go to the drag strip I will let everyone know.... even if nobody wants to drag it would be cool to have a bunch of ppl to hang with between drags and all. Might even let some of you take mine down the track as long as you dont mind the you break you fix method.

Even if you dont race it is still a fun night. There is usually a big turnout of bikes on bike night. I have seen around 150-200 bikes there ... alot of them dont race. When I went there where a couple of can-am spiders there that raced ... they where kinda slow but it was still cool. I raced a guy on a full out drag bike... he handed me my arse back after the race but it was cool just seeing him fly by me... lol.
