As for ride time, expect about 4 hours to get to lunch (gas stops included), and about 1 hour to get back to Fort Worth.

The moderate ride also requires bikes to be in good working order. Gear required for the moderate will be; Jacket, helmet, gloves, long pants, and good sturdy shoes (preferably to cover the ankles).

Also, if you are not aware of them, cooling vests work great as we get into the summer months. They are like wearing a wet rag as a vest under your jacket.
Many of our seasoned riders and racers use this vest, they really help cut the heat of the summer.

Cycle Gear sells these for about $35 to $40, and they are a great investment.

I will see everyone tomorrow morning.

Having never ridden with you guys, which group should I ride in? I know the pace of intermediate won't be a problem, I just don't wanna violate any unwritten rules or anything. I'm thinking about showing up in the morning.

I think it's written someplace a noob should do a moderate first just for everyone else to know you do walk the walk. But, sweet talk with Jim, the Intermediate ride leader tomorrow morning and see what he says.

We ask that riders do a couple moderate rides before an intermediate only so they get used to how we ride as a group. Some people that haven't ridden with a group much may not be comfortable on the first ride and we don't want to throw someone into a faster ride if they aren't comfortable. I don't know how often you have ridden with a group so I would prefer you do at least one moderate before joining an intermediate. Hope to see you tomorrow.

Dragonfly, I will not have a collet.

Mattjmartin, we would be more than happy to have you ride with us. But yes, we will want you to ride a moderate to start. As different groups ride different, this will help you transision smoothly into our group riding style without just jumping in head first not knowing what to expect. I will be leading the moderate and will look forward to seeing you in the morning if you can make it.

thanks guys. I thought I remembered someone saying that, but wasn't positive. Not a big deal. I don't mind.

I am hanging out with friends tonight (read: drinking) so well see how I feel. Don't count on me!

Hope everyone is having a good time on the ride! It's a good thing I didn't go on the ride, strep throat & antibiotics, plus the heat, make for an unpleasant day. That and I'm covering for Thriller who overslept hehehe...

I made it home. My girlfriend was nice enough to bring me the new clutch cable. It only took me 10 minutes to put it on, so I should have just put the damn thing on last night

Sorry for the delay everyone!!! My bike is fixed for real this time, I promise!

The old cable had exploded on one section. The outer steel strands had completely came unwound and you could see the inner strand poking out of it. When I "repaired" it last night, I could see the strands because the outer plastic had come off but they looked OK at the time. Shiny new cable installed and should be good now :Clappy:

I had fun on the little bit of the ride I got to go on.

They SAY "Monday, for sure" I'll believe it when he rides it home, and it sounds good.
