Well, I always thought that "backing it in" was a result of getting the rear tire so light under heavy breaking that the resistance provided by the engine (engine braking) caused to to "kick out" as you tip in for the turn. The amount the rear kicks out can be controlled by the adjustment of the slipper clutch, thats what I thought anyway.
I thought hitting the rear brake to slide it out was "back steering"
