Yeah, but presumably if you were trying to travel light-year distances, you'd be accelerating to a *lot* faster than 40k mph. Get moving fast enough and time dilation starts working in your favor. Sure, it might be a lot of years from the Earth's standpoint, but from your personal point of reference it will be a whole lot quicker.
