looks like some manufacturers either make them or have aftermarket ones, but at first glance I don't see one for a Shoei RF-1000 / X-11.

I've had transition lenses on my glasses for years. I think they work great. They don't get as dark as sunglasses, but they do help when you are out in the sun.

Here is the latest from them. I asked about this other lense that is transition with a mirror tint when it goes dark... its cool ill put a link up for it as well.

Currently, the only helmet that we have that the Transitions SOLFX shield fits is the Phantom.
As for bluetooth, that is towards the bottom of our list. We have alot more new innovative items to be released.

I also found that there is one made by Shield Tech which may not be as good but is available for all major brand helmets for about $100-$150.

It all depends on what the glasses are needed to do. Had a teacher back in elementry school with some, they went black as night almost instantly when he would walk out side then go back to clear with in a few seconds after coming back in.

I'd love to see window tint that does that, better yet, the TOD for car windows, and if you could control the darkness level that'd be great! Have them go full black when you park it in the hot Texas sun but then be full clear for driving around at night.

Transitions is still in use. I get it for all my glasses. THe drawbacks are that they do not work in high heat environments nor will they work inside a vehicle or helmet because both have UV blocking material on the glass/visor.
I like Darc's idea and wish they would hurry up and make an "affordable" solution to the public but so far I have not heard of any.

The technology is there, and it was done over 10years ago, complete with voice control over the lightness/darkness of the tint on the windows. This was done on the Oldsmobile Alero Alpha concept car. Most of that type technology was stripped out of the car for production, because it was way to expensive. And what we ended up with instead of a luxury sport coupe, was an average mid level coupe.

Ok this Shield Tech is the place that makes the shields for Akuma so it is the same quality. Here is the link if you want to check for your helmet ... it says that the date is TBD for the X-11 but it does show that it will be available soon. I sent them a message to try and find out more info on when they will have them available for different helmets. If you have an Akuma helmet that is R series or the Phantom it is available now.

Probably due to being under contract with Akuma. Or trying to get permission from the other manufactures to be allowed to produce for their helmets.

If I had to guess, getting permission from other helmet manufacturers to produce their shields. Considering that it's a good 'accessories' market for helmet manufacturers, I highly doubt they are going to license out the ability for other companies to produce shields, as I'd be willing to bet say Shoei for example has a handful of patents just on the shields and latch mechanisms.

I'd say it's more than good. It's a frigging cash cow. I replaced the shield on my Suomy with a the basic clear one, $50. The colored/tinted ones were $75 and up. The multicolored one was well over $100. They aren't going to give those kinds profits away without getting something in return.

I think they stopped the X-11 and are now making the X-12.

And I believe, but I could be wrong, the photo-cromatic thing for visors has been patened and therefor no one is making it outside of the one company becasue they either don't want to let the company make them for their lids, or they don't want to pay the necessary fee's to make the visor on their own.

that is probably exactly the case, and since no one has these visors, its easy for the helemt manufacturers to not pay for it, because its not in high demand

I have emailed them again to see if there is any word of the Devil Dog helmet being released. I also asked about the phantom II because I would like to get one of them with the transition lense but I dont see the option for the lense anymore. Not sure whats up.

I have the Akuma Werewolf and I love it. I won't even use it for day to day commuting, I take one of my older helmets. Pros: Super lightweight, great aerodynamics, a visor that refuses to fog up and beads rain away, great airflow, onboard rechargeable LED map and tail lights. Cons: vents seem cheap, battery pack rattles around in the lid a bit, I rarely use the lights, and worst of all.... I'm spoiled and will have to shell out some cash for a new Akuma when this one needs replacement....

ROFL ... they responded several times but the responce was that they where trying to get it out asap. I know the last time I talked to them the company had been sold and it was going through ownership change but was still supposed to be back on track soon.
