I don't see how... considering the resonate frequency of say, 12,000 RPM.
If the SD interface loses contact, the camera shuts off. It's probably an error condition, like unable to write to media, etc, etc. If unable to write to media, shutdown.
Most likely to prevent file corruption. This IS FAT16, so it would be very easy to corrupt the entire video if you lost which sector you are writing to. There are no journals to keep count on which sector is being written at any time. It's basically a hardware device puking to a filesystem. Not very sophisticated.
What SHOULD be happening is the camera errors, closes the first video, and then writes a second video when the connection is reestablished to media. The camera already contains the function calls to write multiple videos to the media, it's simply a matter of calling that function when the error occurs.
I am assuming that the developers actually wrote for that condition though. Hell, it might just be segfaulting when the media goes away. Very possible.
I will let everyone know how my next test goes... again, reinforcing the media so that its actually jammed tight in the slot. I still don't see how heat can affect it when its in front of the bike, in the wind.

The meaning of life is good sex and a fast motorcycle. I would combine the two, but I would end up wheelie-ing the girl and spooging on my bike.
Every time the camera shut off for heat, the video was still written properly and wasn't corrupted, the camera finished writing and shut down. For vibration, well, who knows. Hopefully jamming it in there will work for you.
Don't you also have a motorcycle camera setup already tho? Why don't you put that one on your bike?

The other camera is very nice, but with no recording media, it doesn't do any good. It's also not selfcontained as far power.
Probably would need a pocket DVR to make it useful. Would be no sound though... something that I like about the new cam is that while sound is awfully loud, you can mix that down, and get the effect.

I like the idea with rubber and foam, that would probably suffice to get past the vibration issues. I've even got some R/C oil-filled car shocks that can probably absorb a lot of the vibrations, and probably help steady it up quite a bit. Then again, making it look good and simple, that's another issue.
I think the bottom line, if you want it to look good, and function well, you have to find a spot that has the least vibration, and a manageable level of heat. I'm just going to strap my camera underneath my frame sliders. That gets it away from the heat, and gives me a solid platform bolted to the frame that has a lot less vibration. When I get my race plastics I'll find a different spot.

You got it man! Yeah, definitely race plastics... kinda hard to race without em! I'm getting excited about putting on a yellow shirt and getting r done!
Hey Digi, 30 mins of video when I mounted the camera on the bottom of my frame slider. It gets it out of the engine heat, and I guess I'm fortunate to not have the vibration issues... We could always try your camera on my bike, just to make sure you didn't get a faulty unit... or at least to confirm your Yamahammer is faulty
