Re: Ridesmart COTA Survey
Ed, did you sign up for intermediate? If not, you should. You're just about fast enough to make the step up and I think you'd learn more there than in the beginner group.
By June I'm confident you'll be riding intermediate pace.

Re: Ridesmart COTA Survey
I have not signed up yet. I am in the process of saving nickels and dimes. Intermediate is the goal with Ridesmart level 1 instuctors approval. I have been requesting Danny Scribner or Clint Summers as level 1 instructors so they can moitor my progress on a regular basis. At the last RS event at MSRC on the 1.3 Clint said not yet. His concerns were maintaining a consistant line on turn 4 (the hair pin ) and my approach to turn 1 and negotiating turn 1 and 2 smoothly. I need lots of practice on the 1.3 MSRC I need lots of practice everywhere for that matter

Re: Ridesmart COTA Survey
consistant line on the hairpin??? Hell I still haven't found a consistant line for that one. Although I think I am honing in on one that works well for me.

Re: Ridesmart COTA Survey
It is a very interesting corner worker turn for the other track day provider on the Fridays before the CMRA event. the smaller the bike the earlier and closer the apex got to the inside of the hairpin. Also the smaller bikes were hitting an earlier corner entry point. The bigger bikes were using a line more consistant to what Ride smart teaches. later corner entry and higher up the inside corner of the hairpin.
I will now defer to the current RS instructor and currnent CMRA licenced riders for more information. Please keep in mind this track time is restricted to the smaller classes 125
250 and 500 classes. This is thier track for the endurance races Correct?

Re: Ridesmart COTA Survey
Yep, the 250cc and below classes race at the 1.3-mile track. A lot of the 250-racers take that turn very late, but there are others that turn in a bit sooner. Either way, if you hit that rough patch of pavement near the apex, you are likely to feel it.Fish R1 wrote:It is a very interesting corner worker turn for the other track day provider on the Fridays before the CMRA event. the smaller the bike the earlier and closer the apex got to the inside of the hairpin. Re: Ridesmart COTA Survey
I am going to try to save up for this ... I will only do one day though. It will probably be sold out by the time I can commit though. I had heard from another ridesmart instructor what Shaun said about no out of state track days next year. He did say though that if COTA sells out quick enough then that might change.

Re: Ridesmart COTA Survey
And it looks like COTA will sell out quite early. Dave advertised in Road Racing World so out-of-towners are starting to sign up. Saturday is almost full but sunday has space still. Perhaps not for long though.

Re: Ridesmart COTA Survey
Yep I am sure it will be sold out before I get a chance to register. I don't really like how they opened it up right before Christmas but at least they are selling out.

I guess that works for some... but then if that was the reason you could just sell gift cards and it could be used as credit for whatever track day. I am just crying like a little girl is all. With 5 kids I do not have extra money till after this time of year is over and if I did I would still spend it on the kids so I will just sit here and cry thank you.

Re: Ridesmart COTA Survey
this is the email I just got
We have just been notified that Circuit of The Americas has decided NOT to rent to ANY trackday organizations in 2013 and they will be cancelling our scheduled trackdays.
Our official statement:
Ride Smart regrets to announce that Circuit of The Americas has cancelled all their scheduled trackdays in 2013. Circuit of The Americas stated that they were taking their business in a "different direction" and would not be renting to trackday organizations in 2013. This includes the scheduled trackday that Ride Smart announced for June 1 and 2, 2013 and had just begun accepting registrations.
Ride Smart stands by its customers and will immediately begin contacting customers and refunding the trackday deposits and fees paid. Customers may elect for a refund or a credit to their Ride Smart account.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and hope all our customers will continue to choose Ride Smart as their preferred trackday provider.
To receive your refund back to your credit card, simply do nothing. We will begin processing refunds the beginning of the business week. If you would like monies paid to be transferred to your Ride Smart account for use at a later time, just reply to this email and let us know by Monday, December 24.

Yeah, I'm bummed and not at the same time. Kind of shitty buisness practice on CotA's part though.

Re: Ridesmart COTA Survey
Motorcycles don't really tear up a track -- heavy cars do (which is also why MSRH is supposed to be the bumpiest track in Texas, btw).
Too bad about the track day, and what a pain in the neck to deal with for RS. Now they're having to take their entire schedule into a different direction.

They went from semi-trained to untrained in one giant snafu.
Sounds like they did Schwantz a favor by cutting him loose.
