The fact that you knew someone sold these worries me about you
I did a Google on eBay. And I'm encouraged if this is the first time I've worried you.

After using these many times this weekend I can say these $20 earplug headset is much better than any of the custom molded plugs I've used in the past that cost between $300 and $400.

When I put them in I could no longer hear my engine so I bumped it off the rev-limiter several times. I was in the triple apex tombstone corner and suddenly I stopped accelerating! It took a few times to realise I could no longer gauge my shifts by the sound of the engine.

And voice quality was great. I was using these while filming the triple voice video and my ears werent buzzing after the session like they often are after using much more expensive headsets that dont block nearly as much noise as these do.

When/if my custom molded plugs arrive I'll be able to do a back to back comparison to see how these compare to the opposite end of the price spectrum.

Shaun, did you get a chance to try the silicone vs. foam over the weekend?

Also, do you know, is the only difference between the names of the plugs, the colors?

I used the foams, Andrea used the silicones. It seems the biggest difference between the two was ear size. The foams dont squish down very much so Andrea couldnt get them in her ears well enough. The silicones were smaller and a quick, easy fit.

I dont know the difference between the colors so I sent a message to PlugFones today. I'll let you know if they get back to me.

My new custom headset arrived today;
IMG_4232.JPG
It fits well, and has 2 drivers for a wider frequency response. As a result music sounds fantastic. These sound much better than the plugfones in terms of bass response and also high frequency sound but they actually dont fit as well as the foamy's. I need to press these in slightly to effectively block out all external noise. I'm going to experiment with different thicknesses of foam in the ear pockets in my helmet to get the right amount of pressure on my ears to guarantee maximum protection.

Interestingly enough, I told the dealer who took the impressions that I wanted a cable to convert these plugs to an iPhone headset. I've been looking for a device like this for a long time but no one at Frys or online had anything like this. Lo and behold, I opened the box with these plugs and a cable with a microphone and a socket was included. Apparently the manufacturer heard about my idea for this product and decided to make them!

I've had my eye on those, dude. Will you be the guinea pig and tell me how they work, if they fall out easy, noise reduction, etc.? Puhleeze, of course. 8)

These worked so well I ordered a few more pairs. I'm planning to do a lot of radio coaching at COTA this weekend, so these should get a workout.

From the web page, and the descriptions on the box, I think the only difference between the different "types" is the color.

I actually ordered the motorcycle specific ones but these came instead. but as DS said, they have the same Db rating across the board so its mainly an issue of color.
I now have a stockpile of different color tips so i'll be mixing and matching at COTA this weekend.
