DarcShadow wrote:Best advise, get the number of one of the guys that is going to be there so you can get in touch with them and setup with everyone. Track day with friends to help out is always better.

As for the bike, you don't have to remove the signals, but you will need to tape over them as well as your headlights. Blue painters tape is what most everyone uses. DO NOT use duct tape. Outside of that you will want to lower your tire pressure some and you should be good to go.
:icon_whs0be: on getting there and letting others help out. Good advice.

As for duct tape...if you want it to look nice, you can use duct tape over the blue painter's tape if you want to color-match, for example. I have some really sexy British flag tape you can use. :D

And seriously, if you put anything very heavy like duct tape over blue tape over your headlight, consider disabling it by pulling the fuse if possible. If I pull the headlight fuse on my bike it also kills the ignition so I had to leave it in, and the with blue tape, then duct tape over that, it trapped the heat and warped the lenses ($). I've since learned how to disable them (another nice story by the way), but hopefully my experience helps someone else. And it's only $10 for the advice. :D

By the way, WELCOME!

DarcShadow wrote:Yes, but when did the rain start and was it forecast to be that bad? Like I said, it's not really up to RS, they are not going to credit you if they don't get a refunded from the track and they have to cancel pretty early in order for the track to refund them.
It had been raining for more than week prior to the track day. Friday it quit raining. That weekend it was the 1.3 on Sat and then the 1.7 on Sun. The 1.3 was slightly wet up top, but it was in a straightaway and didn't affect anyone. By the afternoon the water was gone. That night (Sat), it rained from like 7PM until like 9AM - HARD. The 1.7 was literally flooded when we all got there. By 10AM it was drying out except for the rivers of water crossing the track in 3 areas and puddles in other areas marked off with cones. Some were on the race line, but the rivers were entering or exiting normally fast corners.
Ok, yeah, if the track was that bad that early in the morning it is surprising it wasn't canceled. Don't know if that was RS's call, or if the track has changed their cancelation policy though.
Either way, at some point you have to do what is right for your customers...many of which are long-term repeaters.

I got my Q3s spooned on yesterday, so tomorrow I guess I'll pick up a rain suit. And a snorkel and mask. I may not ride but at least I can get lunch. It's too late to back out now.

Or the pond in the middle of the track. The pond is actually pretty good size right now, fuller than I've ever seen it before.

There's a pond in the middle of the track. You don't really notice it till you run the track CW, then it fills your vision as your coming around Boot Hill and it looks a lot closer than you thought.

For anyone showing up tomorrow, the easy up is to the right of the main building track side. My silver SV650 is parked in front of it and the FWMR banner is hanging in the back. BTW, anyone have some chain lube they can bring? Have like 3 cans already at home and really don't need another one... :)
