TWS - Sometime in September?

Post by sckego » Tue Jul 13, 2010 8:20 am

I know this is pretty early, but I just want to plant the seeds of an idea at this point. I've never ridden TWS, and would like to do so once this year. Ridesmart has three dates planned there for September: Monday the 6th (Labor Day), and 9/25-26 (Sat/Sun). Is there anyone who would be interested in heading down there for a trackday on one of these dates? Preferably someone with a truck/trailer combo that will fit the bikes, as I don't particularly feel like riding 170 miles before and afterwords. I'd pick up the fuel cost for the trip since I'm the one who really wants to go.

So who's interested? :wheelie:

I'd be interested, but I don't have a truck or trailer, although I could probably borrow a vehicle from my parents if we can find a trailer

I likely wouldn't go. But you can borrow my trailer if you need it.

Count me in Kegan. And if you need a lift you're welcome to throw your bike in my trailer.
I'm really looking forward to a day on this track. I've never ridden it but after all the training material I've done I feel like I know it already. It looks like a lot of fun.

So would this be a good place to go for my first time or would you suggest to wait?

TWS is the fastest track that RideSmart typically runs at, although it is also one of the smoothest and best paved tracks that they run. Cresson is one of the best beginner tracks (and expert tracks for that matter) but not everyone starts at Cresson. If you are thinking about running TWS and have the time and money to put aside for it, I say go for it, just be sure to stay within your limits and don't get going so fast in the straights that you forget and pass your braking points.

I think this is going to be my goal track day to make. TWS is my favorite track and I love being out there with you guys, so it is win win.

Those of you that have never ridden TWS, you are in for a treat. I'd say it is very beginner friendly as well. Even though it is faster than the rest, it is very smooth and flows wells. It has a much more straight-forward approach than most, so it is very easy to learn. The only exception is turn 1... Don't feel bad if you can never make it through on the same line... I always get lost in turn 1.

I'd hope to find some trailer space with someone since I no longer have on, but worst case scenario, I'll ride. My G/F can come and tote everthing in her/my car.

EDIT: Since it's a drive out and back, I say we make a weekend of it and hit up the double track day.

Okay....spoke with my mom this morning and she said I can use her Tahoe for the trip and it does have a trailer hitch according to her, but I need to go by and see if she has the ball and all that stuff....so I've got a vehicle we can use for anyone with another trailer :)

Snail would probably let someone use his little trailer. It will fit two bikes, but probably not two behemoths

I too would like to make a trip out to TWS. I can pull my own weight using my van, but I don't have enough space to carry more than one bike. Perhaps I can carry things such as coolers, leathers, gas cans, ect. At this point I'm not making a commitment, but I'll say there's a strong possibility of me going.

I think i will be in for the trip I have a enclosed 3 bike trailer with all the tie downs and such. My truck is smaller so if someone has a large truck or tahoe to pull it down I would be up for it. I will start looking for a larger truck. do they allow camping in tent overnight at tws.

Okay, so we have a trailer that can take 3 bikes, one that will hold 5 or 6 and several that can take 2 and/or Shocker can take his in his van. So we can all go down there with about three vehicles? Maybe one other if significant others want to go?

Our definites are:
Sckego
RC30Fan---trailer for 2(Sckego's bike)
El Diabro (me)
Dr.PorkChop---trailer for 3-5 bikes?

Maybes are:
Meat of Snail (can possibly use trailer for 2)
Black January
Demonduck
Mattjmartin
Shocker
Greencbrmike (trailer for 3 bikes)

If your status changes either to confirm or whatever if you wouldn't mind posting here and shooting me a PM and I'll updated this little list accordingly
