no its not it also looks like there is a gap between his crush drive and rim that could cause big probloms down the road if he gets to much sand and dirt in there

It took me awhile to see the problem was the bike was missing a chain guard!

The story behind this is even funnier than the caption. The guy posted up on svrider.com when it happened and he was all but stoned.

And here is the kicker. Shortly after I posted this I had something similar happen to me:

Image

You can see the recalcitrant sprocket mounting stud that caused the damage. It came loose shortly before the checkered came out at ECR. I heard the noise as I was about to pass someone so I thought it was the other bike. I got past, realised the noise was me, and saw the checkered. It took about a minute to do this damage.

The studs were all installed with red loctite when I did the 5.5" conversion. Maybe I should wire them this time? Thats common practise on many race bikes - including my RC30.

Anyway, it was a simple fix. I found a replacement swingarm on eBay for a measly $69. It arrived 8 days after the damage was done. I had time to install it today and it only took one nap time! (2 hours)
Half way there:

Done!

Its easy. The same hex adapter tool used to pull the front axle is used for the swingarm. Then its just standard sockets and wrenches.

You should have one in your bike's tool kit, if you still have it. It's not the best quality tool but it'll work...usually.
