Rear Spring
Roger has suggested that I upgrade to a stiffer rear spring. Just doing some quick looking around and I'm not finding just a spring, but rather the whole spring and shock assembly. Can you upgrade just the spring or do you have to upgrade the entire assembly?

Re: Rear Spring
I'm pretty sure you *can* get just the spring, but most people don't. I mean, they had to have gotten the spring on the shock in the first place, right?
Do you still have your stock rear shock? Maybe now is a good time to upgrade.

Re: Rear Spring
Yeah, whole bike is stock ouside of the exhaust and turn signals. Over the winter I plan to put SS brake lines and new rear spring. Guess maybe I'll do rear shock as well.

Racetech has a huge selection of springs available.

Give them a call and they'll get you exactly what you need.

Re: Rear Spring
Surprising you would need a stiffer spring. Usually only heavier people need them.

Re: Rear Spring
The spring does have over 3 years of wear and it's only recommended. The bike is adjusted for me but it's pretty close to it's limit of adjustability so a stiffer spring would just allow me to backout the pre-load some and allow the shock to function better.

Re: Rear Spring
Finally got around to looking more into this. According to the web page calculator on racetech's web page, I need a 10.074kg/mm spring and the stock spring is 11kg/mm. I'm assuming the lower the kg/mm the softer the spring?
If thats the case I really wonder about my stock spring, has it worn THAT much? Wonder maybe if I don't have the stock spring, I'll have to look at it closer.

Re: Rear Spring
If I was in your shoes, I'd drop the bike off with Jimmy Cambora at Raceworx [http://www.raceworxusa.com/] in Alvarado. He specializes in racing suspensions, and does the setups for many of the CMRA guys. I had him rebuild my front forks and set up my suspension, and it was absolutely golden.
