I just need to figure out how to slide this trip in so close to the MotoGP trip. Money wise I should be able to swing it, schedule wise with the baby, not so sure. Damn kids. lol

I agree completely with supporting ridesmart. But like miles said. I've got to support myself first. And with how quickly this is coming up, and the other vacations I already have planned for next year. This is going to be a no-go for me. Doesn't mean it won't turn into a day trip down to watch and hang out with those that are riding.

I really want to find out what the overall 2013 ridesmart schedule and the otherguys so I can get the cw dates scheduled. DS someone has to fall on the sword for the Moto GP advance work. What is the terrain, high spots, sniper and observers post, perimeter weakness.

I asked matadorCE this after he went to the F1 race.
matadorCE wrote:The race was awesome, we were just fine with the GA seats. The best views IMO are at Turn 1, Turn 12, and Turn 19. We didn't go to the backside of the track, but talked to other people and the stand through the S-turns are not that good. We also sat during practice on the stands at Turns 13-17 and it was just ok in terms of action but preferred Turn 19.
There is a small GA area right next to the main grandstands with a good view of the grid and the pits; there is also another small GA area next to Turn 20 (at the other end of the main grandstands) that you can see the action very close as well as a clear view of the podium.

As of right now there will be no out of state trackdays with Ridesmart. But there might be more than one COTA weekend if the June event goes well.

COTA drained a lot of resources. No NOLA, Barber or HPT at this point. But lets keep this among friends until the official announcement is made, which will be soon.

That's a huge bummer. I'd almost say I'd rather run Barber than COTA, although I haven't been on COTA, so I can't say that for sure. But judging from track maps I think I'd have more fun at Barber. Not to mention the trip to the Dragon afterwards. Granted if there was ever a year to skip Barber for me this would be a good one.

I know my place is about 1.5hrs from the track, but the offer stands if someone needs a place to crash for the weekend. Father-in-law also has a 16ft. enclosed trailer that could be used to transport bikes from my place to the track. Or I have a smaller flatbed that could *maybe* get 3 bikes on.

I realize this could be considered blasphemy but there are other track day providers serving NOLA and Barber.

Now I am off to confession. How many Hail Mary’s are needed for blasphemy? :HappyAngel1:

Not blasphemy, I was looking at the TD that do Barber and as things get sorted out in my world may seriously consider seeing if there is a group interested in doing Barber on our own.

I don't know about Barber, but I'm riding NOLA for sure next season. There are lots of track day organizations hosting at those tracks, just pick one and start planning.

Take a look at Tracktastic and Sportbike Track Time, both are excellent schools that go to Barber.

We are very fortunate here in the DFW area having 2 tracks within a 60 mile radius from Arlpington.
There have been 2 times that I am aware of that FWMR members were covering 75% of the corners at Ridesmart events. Rhino seems to have a very good relationship with Dave Wonders when it comes to getting the 50% of codes for the new riders (me included) Striple seems to be quality voice for the videos presentations for Ridesmart testimonials and general info, Shaun is a RS instructor, Miles and Monster are in pics and videos promoting RS and finally all the regulars from FWMR who put up cash to actually ride at RS events.

With all that being said I would also like to ride at other venues in 2013 that Ridesmart is having to bypass due to COTA. So lets go to Barber and or NOLA or both. I would really like to road trip to Northern California for Laguna Seca this year. I have a friend who lives in San Francisco. I would like to see him and spend some cash on that track. :-D I have family in New Orleans that I would love to see and If a Track Tactics event just happens to be scheduled at NOLA the same time that I am down there
(with my bike) then good for me.

Ridesmart is still the 1st choice and best value for me. They are nice, polite, accomodating and above all excellent instructors on how to ride these crotch rockets that I enjoy riding safe and fast. I want to continue to learn from these people. So I will continue to pay cash for track days and sit in a corner for track time. I will drive to Houston to help out or ride. I will listen to Randy and Jim when they teach class under a tip up at the 1.3 at MSRC or in the classroom at TWS. If I see Candace has a last minute posting for a front gate worker at ECR on motodfw.com I will put down what ever I am doing and man the front gate. If Dave wants to stick his neck out at COTA so that he can make a buck in his home town instead of Driving to 7 to 10 Hours to Hallet I am all in.

Regarding Ridesmart, I think everyone here supports Dave Wonders and his crew whenever possible, myself included. That said, I must admit that I'm not a very brand-loyal person, and I do ride with every track day organization/host that I can afford.

In the last 20 years I've done track days all over Australia with dozens of providers, several in California and Oklahoma but the best run event by far has been Ridesmart.

DITTO!!!!!!!!
This is sooooooooooo not the news that I need to hear right now. I too would be game and ok with a different organization but my main preference when it comes to RS and Barber (my Holy Grail of tracks at the moment) is because of the familiarity with other folks from my neck o the woods. Again, Id be ko with a different organization but I will say that if we wanna make this a go, we need to get going with the planning after the first and get a timeframe set in place.
Either way, let me know and keep me in the loop.

Pulled the trigger on both days for intermediate. I figure I can sell a spot if I change my mind later.
