LOL - when was this? I need to find a way to get our 250 race bike whenever you're riding your 250. Those things are a blast when you have somebody to dice with.

3 Reasons. First im not good enough to push the 650 to its limits and so it would not be a waste and would help me learn more at the track. Second I would not be worried about laying a $2k bike down near as much as laying down the BMW. Again this would allow me to learn more at the track. Last is if I did mess the bike up at the track I could still ride the BMW till I get the 650 fixed.... and its track ready no prep required.

I always chuckle at people worrying about laying their bike down vs laying down a cheaper bike. To hell with the bike, I'm worried about laying myself down!

I'm personally amused by DD worrying about laying down a S1000RR, which has all those smarts designed specifically to keep you from laying it down on the track.

That said this bike is tempting, but I don't think it's in the cards right now. I keep looking at dual sports.

I agree. tearing up a $2000.00 bike vs a $10500.00 bike (My R6) I want a track only bike and the R6 is the back up. Lack of funds has me saying maybe next year on the track only bike. Oh yeah the comment about the bike vs me that DS posted. Insurance, common sense, prayer and being single.
That reminds me, I need to sign up for air ambulance servic insurance.

ROFL very nice of you but I think Ill keep taking my chances for now. Rhino ... the bike has lots of stuff to help ya not drop it but I still have no desire to test the limits of those little safety things. Even if I was able to get it all covered by insurance I would not be able to convince the wife to let me buy another one.... she would make me buy a cheap used bike ... which while it would not be the end of the world it would not be the S1000RR that I love. Also I do worry about myself but I can not change the fact that if the bike goes down then I go down.... I can change the bike that goes down (if it happens).

Can't blame me for trying.

Had the pleasure of riding an s1k right after they came out. I was in Virginia and my dad had a good relationship with a local dealer so I got to borrow their demo unit for a couple days. Lots of fun.
