Heard about this. Apparently the bike brake checked the SUV, resulting in the SUV hitting one in them.....they then stopped and the bikers started hitting his car and windows. The car fled in fear that they would be hurt. Which is exactly what happened in the end
At first I was pissed at the SUV, but then found out that it's really the other way around.

The link talks about that, the footage cuts off after they start bashing his windows in. In NY your not allowed to defend yourself so he was screwed.milesmiles wrote:Heard about this. Also I should add...I wouldn't know what to do. I'm sure some of them had absolutely nothing to do with this and were innocent. I feel bad for them

That's my point, in NYC your not allowed to have the means to defend yourself, his only option was to attempt to run if he felt he was in danger.
In TX, I could have sat there, called the cops, let them beat the vehicle up, if someone breached a window open fire. His choice would have been, cross your fingers and hope they don't mess with your wife and kids.

Yes we're on the exact same page. But I'm just stating that he did the best with what he had(his car). I would have done the same.

Not sure I agree with this. The SUV did not just tap those bikes, he floored it and completely ran over those bikes.
Those quids were being stupid, no doubt, but that doesn't give the SUV driver the right to potentially start killing people. After running over multiple bikes, and then hitting another one after that, he had that beat-down coming.

i agree with this, but from hat I read is the bike brake checked him. The guy then hit him...he stopped. The biker people started beating his car and trying to get in(he had his family with him). You don't see the stet of the video when this all happened.Striple wrote:Not sure I agree with this. The SUV did not just tap those bikes, he floored it and completely ran over those bikes.

Re: freeway motorcycle shutdown - SUV runs them over (graphi
The news stories didn't mention if he did or not. You can't expect an SUV to stop in the same distance as a motorcycle. According to the police, after he hit the bike, he pulled over, that's when the other bikers attacked him and he took off. I would have done the same thing, especially if my family was in the car.Telomere wrote:No matter the claim, his kid is watching. He didn't call 9-1-1?

Both parties were probably in the wrong. Obviously the whole situation got out of hand. We also know Asian people can't drive!!

LOL! I agree, mostly.Toy7521 wrote:Both parties were probably in the wrong. Obviously the whole situation got out of hand. We also know Asian people can't drive!!
All of these claims made by either party aren't particularly relevant if they cannot be substantiated. What the video does show is that he rider brake-checked the SUV, which caused the SUV to hit him. Dumb move on the rider, and he is at fault for that one. Whatever happens next (riders getting agitated, attempting to confront the SUV driver, etc.) IMO does not justify lethal force by running over the bikes, unless it is reasonable to believe that the riders were about to kill him. The riders did not brandish a weapon, they were just agitated like a bunch of frat boys at the bar. Just because the SUV driver felt threatened, doesn't morally justify him using lethal force. Hell, if we used lethal force every time some asshole threatened us in traffic or otherwise, each of us would have killed a number of people already. Once he decided to use lethal force by physically running over the bikes, he was (morally) guilty, and more so than the riders, who simply acted like jackasses. He then sealed his fate by hitting the second guy, at which point a good ol' fashioned ass-beating was just what the doctor ordered.
There are no (morally) innocent parties in that video (aside from those who did not directly participate in the situation). Of course, the legal aspects could be entirely different, but legality is far removed from morality these days anyway.

Re: freeway motorcycle shutdown - SUV runs them over (graphi
Kinda interesting how everything I keep reading is turning it all against the bikers. Wonder if they would change that if it wasnt some "wealthy" couple in a Range Rover.
I find it interesting that vehicular assault, failure to stop and render aid, and hit & run are now legal in the US all of a sudden. From my perspective I would have to also throw in, following too closely.
Up until leaving the scene, it was all a simple misdemeanor. Everything before the first contact was a misdemeanor against the bikers unless there is some other law out there I have not heard of that makes it a felony to impede the flow of traffic.
Would this same driver not be facing any charges (at this time) if it were a bunch of grade schoolers acting in the same manner? Would folks out there be saying the same thing and hating on the little children for acting the same way?
I am not saying I agree that what the bikers were doing initially was right, but outside of hindering the flow of traffic, what harm was being done? I have never agreed with acting in that manner by the hoodlums because of the repercussions that eventually trickle down and affect even the lowly hardly rider. On this I also do not agree that it is at any time lawful to intentionally rear end another vehicle and then shortly there after claim "fear of life" as an excuse to run down a human being.
The problems we are seeing with this is that it just opened it up to those out there with ill intent against all bikers to mow a rider down at any time because they may end up getting to use the "fear of life" excuse.
This man has a brain (or so I thought) and could have made a logical decision instead of being selfish and just used his brake, turn signal, and exited the freeway the first chance as safely as possible. I say selfish because he caused the first accident with his selfish aggressiveness and put his family in danger. Up until that point, him and his family were in no danger at all. He could have thought of his family and decided to use the brake and avoid the situation all together.
Let me tell ya, if placed in the exact same situation, I would have just backed down and let them do their thing and at the first opportunity get myself out of there without putting anyone in danger. Secondly, it seems funny that the bikers did not attack the wife or child.
Hmmmmmm....we are such aggressive evil bastiges as the media would like to mark us and label this driver as a saint.
What the bikers were attempting to do at first was prevent him from evading and what you saw was the same reaction that we all have seen when dumbasses evade cops and then cry like little bitches when they get a nasty beatdown when caught. The longer the evade, the more time they had to get even angrier at the driver for what he did, done, and was doing.
I would have to say that if none of yall would chase the guy down like that if it were me that just got ran over I would seriously have to rethink our association.
Now there is a father, husband, and son laying in a hospital fighting for his life.
