Good to see you all out there. Hope you guys that went downtown afterward have a good time.

Side note--I need to remember that when somebody is getting into my pants, it doesn't need to be a public display. :-)

Re: Bike Night - 10/28 - Location discussion

Realizing that this is a done deal, I still want to mention Freds. It's right off 7th, has no TV's, good patio with drinks and burgers. Might be a good fallback position in the future... M&O Burger is right near there also. I was in there last night--there were two other people in the joint whe...

Power Stands Valentino Max rear stand

I just bought one of these then discovered I can't use it to get my bike up on jack stands, so I'm looking to get rid of it. It's a kind of unique rear stand. Instead of lifting from the back, it lifts from the left side. The idea is that you can stabilize your bike a bit better because you can hold...

Re: Most miserable ride of your life

Not quite as life-threatening, but riding from Mena, AR back home over labor day weekend with a back that had just gotten thrown out. That ride *sucked*. What it lacked in pain compared to yours it made up for in duration. :)

Re: Downsized

Sorry I didn't make bike night this past Thursday. I wanted to but a work thing came up.

So far I'm *loving* the Versys. I'm beginning to understand what the supermoto guys are all about. Compared to my C14 the Versys is just super light and narrow and flickable.

Go for the Ninja. The one you linked looks exactly like the one I used to have. Mine had a few more miles though.

There's a blue one at Grapevine Kawasaki also, or at least there was when I was there last Saturday.

Right now I'm just a maybe. My back is healing a lot slower than I'd like. If it's not way better in a couple weeks I'll be passing.

Downsized

Not my job, my bike. Saturday I traded the Concours 14 in on a 2009 Versys. After hurting my back TWICE with the C14 I decided that while it's crazy fun, it's just too heavy for me. So far I'm loving the Versys. It's weird going from a 1400cc I-4 to a 650cc parallel twin, but at least there's still ...

Re: hey Diabro

I'd be curious to read the study. It seems like they're focusing on helmet wearing and race while discounting other factors like type of bike, speed of the crash, and whether any other gear was worn. Your body can only handle so much trauma. If you're wearing a helmet, shorts, and a T-shirt and go d...

Oh man, striple, that sucks! Sorry I couldn't make it out. I tried--I was on I-35S trying to make it down there, but I was having a painful back day and just couldn't do it. I realized that fighting pain while going down the interstate does not bode well for trying to tackle twisties. I'm glad the o...

Dang, two out of three. The jacket fits *perfect*, the boots are good, but the pants are a size too small. Good thing New Enough has such a good return policy. :)

Re: Dallas police seek charges in videotaped beating

Thanks for the further info Will.

I definitely hope there's not much backlash against the honest cops. I've got no problem with cops in general, but I have a big problem with cops on a power trip who think they can get away with crap.

I dig the Korn version of Radiohead's "Creep".

Also a big fan of Alien Ant Farm's cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal"

If I could figure out how to embed YouTube videos right I'd link them.

I wonder what happened. That section of road is straight, flat, and 4 lanes wide. Maybe a race gone bad?
