Re: 1.3 or 1.7 MSRC?
How much track riding have you done? Have you done the 1.3 before? The 1.3 is significantly more work and will wear your ass out quickly. There is no "rest" point on the track, you're constantly turning. I love the track for that reason, but many hate it for the same. Most also hate ridin...

1.3 or 1.7 MSRC?
I'm going to be on the Ninja this season and I'm getting my calendar set. Can someone recommend the 1.3 or 1.7 for a first track day on this much more powerful machine and why?

Re: Dirt Bike
Has anyone here ridden a KTM 250 SX-F or a Honda CRF250? found a couple of those on Craigslist that look interesting. What year? Not sure if you care about electric start which the KTM might have electric start. I can only speak for myself, but I am willing to pay a bit more to have a FI bike. I am...

Re: 2018 Progressive International Motorcycle Show
No Honda either. Al Lamb did their display last year and I didn’t see them either. I don’t think I’m going to go. Each year I spend less and less time there, last year I was there for maybe an hour. With the increase in price, shtty parking options for cages, I don’t think the risk equals the reward...

Re: Frame sliders for the Ninja
Have you considered NRC covers? They are heavy cast aluminum. I installed on my bikes. I estimate 4x weight and thickness vs stock. Haven't crash tested, but they are well reviewed. https://www.ebay.com/i/152177611286?chn=ps&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F711-11718...

Re: Frame sliders for the Ninja
If I were to dedicate a bike to track only use I'd just run plastics. I just to run sliders because one ding in the frame and it's totaled - I don't run a dedicated track bike. And it is a mostly a track bike. I rode it once to work since I got it and it seemed out of its element. I can't imagine r...

Re: Frame sliders for the Ninja
Thanks for the replies. I guess I will go without them. @ Jeff: I hadn't considered a fairing swap, and they have a Chinese set, in my stock colors (or close), for less than one side cowl. But after doing a front and side on the 500, I swore to never do body work again. The odds of going down are pr...

Frame sliders for the Ninja
I got some clear grips and tank protection and I was going to get some frame sliders. But there is a guy I know of on the Zx-6 forum who races, who recommends against getting them. He said because they attach with one bolt hole, and they go through the frame spar that attaches directly to the engine...

February 3rd? Really? Are we not having winters anymore? Remember the time the bay froze over?
And only 2 COTA weekends this next season.

Re: 2018crf450r update:
What did you do to cause the issue? In retrospect, I should have placed the set rings directly on the bearings rather than placing them in the channels in the cam cap that I then placed on top of the bearings. I believe this is what allowed the right cam bearing to slide to the right by about 3-4mm...

Re: CMRA
I'm 47 in February, is that too old? I've been thinking about this same thing since my first track day back in '14, the hard part will be parting with the $275, I haven't paid for a track day since '14 either. I'm thinking a R3 or Ninja 300. Jon/Stardog on here is/had a CMRA license, I'm sure he can...

Re: Local shop for suspension setup
It was different after Roger set it up. I had done some adjustment prior to that, but frankly, I was being too conservative before I took it to Roger. Roger buried the pre-load front and rear and told me to get stiffer springs. I did not like the rear pre-load that far down, eliminating all the fre...

Re: Local shop for suspension setup
Thanks Rick. I’m guessing by sprockets you mean larger rear and/or smaller front? Its an option. And I have separate high and low speed adjustment on the rear. A few people is my issue, the neighborhood isn’t what it used to be. Plus I’d feel better if an experienced person did it. I do want to do i...

Local shop for suspension setup
I picked up the 636 on Saturday. I want to do the adjustment first thing. Can someone recommend a local place?

Re: MSRC Oct 29th (1.3) 30th(1.7)
Cold hard tires, coupled to cold pavement and too much enthusiasm with the throttle, I’m guessing big power also, and out goes the rear. They had everyone on guard for the first couple of sessions. What an awesome day it turned out to be. A little cold in the morning, but I had no issues at all. I’m...

Re: MSRC Oct 29th (1.3) 30th(1.7)
I just signed up for Sunday on the 1.3. Thought it was a better fit to retire the 500 from track duty, as this will probably be it’s last track day. I’m going out Saturday night to my parents. If y’all really camp out I may stop by and hang for a bit.
