Hi FWMR

Tell us a little about yourself and say hello to the gang. We would like to hear about who, what, and why you ride as well as how you found us.

Hi FWMR

Post by Stripes » Sat May 05, 2012 9:29 pm

My name is Lauren,
I am a new rider who just got her liscense and bike. I hear about this club over the summer from a work friend of mine. I had been wanting to join for a while and figured, what a better time to join then when I am procrastinating from finals? So I joined and figured I would say hello and I hope to be in town soon so I can catch a couple good rides with all of you.

Welcome to the boards. What bike did you just get? I am guessing you haven't been riding long? Be in town? Where are you going to school...Indiana? Are you originally from this area? When will you be in town? We have a bike night this Thursday that you are more than welcome to come to and meet us and then a ride on the 12th that if you are here, you can join us on.

You know there was a day that people said we ran all the females off. This day if it happens, it is not the fault of the guys... lol.

Please excuse her ... she is really wanting to grow the female membership and had to much coffee.

Welcome. Stick around for a little bit and im sure you will see this is a great group. We give eachother a hard time now and then but it is in good fun and when push comes to shove we are always there for eachother. Hope to see you soon.

P.S.
I am sleep deprived so please excuse any stupidness that I post! :))

Nice bike... keep comming around the boards so we can all get to know eachother and when you get here come to bikenight and rides with us. Love to have ya. Also take it nice and easy on that bike... your a girl and that will usually help but just be careful. I have never been on a Duk myself but it is a 750SS so I would guess that the throttle will be touchy. Just make sure you do lots of parking lot getting use to the bike stuff and never get in a rush. Also frame sliders are a great thing if it doesnt have them already. GEAR UP ALWAYS! We want to actually see you this summer. If you need anything just ask these guys and girls are usually quick to help with good advice.

Just in case I didnt get it through to ya .... take it easy on that bike... BABY STEPS. It is a whole lot of bike for your first time riding. I am not trying to scare ya (much) but I want you to be aware and not a statistic. Mind you this is comming from a guy who does not tell people to get a 250 for their first bike (and usually catches hell for it).

haha dont worry Ive had the bike for a while now, its actually not nearly as touchy as you might think. I really like it its defintly something to grow into, but its certlainly not my first time riding it or anything, i think ive logged over a thousand miles just over the breaks, not including the summer. Its a very smooth bike, at least while being ridden correctly, only regret is that its a bit too tall for me, so if anyone has any suggestions ide love to hear it. It can be lowered but not well, and not without changing the properties of the bike, there is no lowering kit available, and i dont think i can get any taller shoes, but if anyone can think of anything else i'm open to hear it. =)

Maybe it is my sleep depervation but the way I was taking it is that you just got your license and bike so you had not ridden it much if at all. I feel much better now that I know you have been riding it for a bit. Cant wait to meet ya.

Kess did some modification to her seat to make it easier to touch the ground. I am sure she can give you some ideas to get just a little more flat foot at stops.

Just kidding, I have nothing but the utmost respect for ND, their alumni and students, and their fantastic football team who manage to lose to us in glorious fashion year after year.

Fight on!

Welcome! That's a very pretty bike. I'm surprised we don't have any Ducs around normally. It'll be good to see one parked at bike night.

Come visit us at bike night when you get in town and keep an eye on the Club Rides forum to come ride with us. Also hit up Telomere for access to the ladies section of the forums.

Welcome!... I've always wanted a Ducati Monster. Not sure if I would ever buy one though just for parts and maintenance reasons, but I do love the way they look.

Ok Telomere, how did you guess she went to school in Indiana? I didn't see anything in her initial post about where she was going to school...oh wait, has she already signed up in the "chick" section?

Oh, and welcome stripes. I grew up in Indiana, went to Purdue, and my sister went to ND...sort of. she went to the IU med school on the ND campus.

The Purdue/ND football games were always interesting. Huge crowds around campus. Had police helo's flying around after one game just to keep an eye on all the crowds of people wondering around.
