Looking for cage tires cheap

Post by Polokid69 » Tue Apr 23, 2013 4:35 pm

Any suggestions for inexpensive tires for a Honda CRV? I need to buy them individually because money is tight. Anyone have a connection ?

Thanks but I think that might be too big for the rim

Ok quick car tire lesson. The tire size goes like this....

Your tires are:
205 mm wide
70% of that width is the height from the rim to the top of the tread
15 is the rim size

Make sure you check out tirerack.com for cheap tires as well.

Tirerack usually has the lowest price I can find. And most places like NTB, if they carry the same tire will match the price with shipping of Tirerack. I understand money being tight, but you should really try to change at least 2 at a time, both front or both rear.

Very true. Not good to do 1 at a time.

It might be only a month between purchase of both so might be ok I would think. Just don't want GF to have a flat

If your CRV is front wheel drive then replace one rear wheel. If it is all wheel drive then do not replace one at a time in fact I would suggest all 4 if it is all wheel drive.

The difference in size between a bald tire and a new tire is enough that it could cause problems with the driveline. However if it is front wheel drive and you put one on the rear then it should be ok. Just make sure you get the second tire asap so the tread depth is very close then move both new tires to the front.

It's FWD and GF is only driving 4 miles to work but I don't want her to get stranded with a flat. The rear tires are good so guess we could put the rear tires on the front and then put the new ones one at a time on the back ?

I would leave the half used tires in the back and put new ones on the front. That way they will wear out at about the same time. Also the fronts are more important for braking and handling than the rears.

Used tires but not bald tires.
Got my last 2 sets of 4 that way too.

If he purchases 2 tires then yes... if he only does one at a time then he would want to move the rear tires to the front then replace one rear tire at a time. This would reduce the chance of damage to the vehicle.
