gas

Post by milesmiles » Mon Sep 09, 2013 4:53 pm

So i was on my way to my parents house(corsicana), full leathers and loaded down backpack. My gas light had come on about 40miles out and i had been bookin it so i knew it was going to be a close call. I round the 2nd to last corner and give it some gas and it started to sputter. I knew i had to make it up the huge hill or i was screwed and wouldn't be able to push it up it.
It died right on the middle of the hill. I jumped off while it was still moving to start pushing with the momentum. Full gear i made it up the hill!!!!!!! Then i coasted down 1/16 of a mile to my house. Anyone else ever cut it that close?

Ran outta gas on the north side of Godley and coasted into the driveway of the valero. Only had to duck walk a few feet to the pump. Thank God too, I was on my way to work.
Laughed my butt off the whole time.

I've never actually run out, but I do know that the needle goes a significant distance below the red line

I had this 80 280ZX, I pulled into a Gulf, rolled up to the pump, and when I went for the key to turn it off, it died.

I owned a Suzuki Samurai(jeep looking thingy) and was driving from Houston to Laredo , 307 miles. The last gas stop is Freer, Tx then about 60 miles of nothing. I had one of my ex-mother-in-laws and ex-wife in the car. I figured I could make it all the way, ran out of gas 5 miles from Laredo!. Luckily a Sheriff came by and called a relative who brought me a gallon of gas. I almost made it!

Well, I don't ever recall laughing when I ran out, pushing or no. But the Karma Fairy does pay you a visit sometimes...I'm outside of Sulfur Springs about 5 miles, pass this old dude is a junker of a truck driving 40 down the interstate, cuss him as I drive by at 85, run out of gas about a mile outside of SS, and guess who stops to help, AND has a gallon jug full of gas in the back of the junker. I learned a valuable lesson, and now only cuss slow drivers in the fast lane.
