I need to borrow a Sena this weekend - Sunday in particular, although both days would be helpful. Is anyone able to help out?

I have one that I can loan if you have a spare base. Pulling apart the Corsair V to install (and uninstall) it was a total PITA. On the other hand if you want to just take the helmet, pull it apart, use what you need and then put it back together you are welcome to do that too. I have the boom mic that is attached to the mount/base. The helmet only has about 4,000 miles on it so it isn't to skanky. :)

some clarification for me please. (Because I've not used one of these and plan on getting one soon)

what is the "base" and what is the "unit"? is there more required than what is pictured below?

That is the newer version compared to ours, that is the low profile one, I don't know if that one has a separate base. Look up the SMH10

Oh okay. So the unit Actually detaches from a base. I didn't realize that. How convenient.

Think I am going to go ahead and order the newer one.

This is the unit we all have,
Image
The main unit is there to the left and the base unit that connects to the helmet is in the center of the image. One nice thing about it being removable is it makes it more convient when it's time to charge it. The R unit 111/James found has a remote battery pack that they show attached to the back of the helmet. It can be disconnected from the main unit, but to charge it, it has to be connected and the main unit has to be connected to a power source. Personally I like the all in one option. It also gives you the ability to buy mulitple base units and then move your comm from helmet to helmet with out having to actually remove anything from one helmet and itstall it in another. Just pop the main unit off one and put it on another.

The battery with the SMH10R appears to come with a USB adapter which I assume would allow you to charge it off of the base.

If I were to buy another one it would be the low profile version. The SMH10 sits too low on the helmet and I end up hitting the jog dial button with my jacket.

Stop wearing jackets with spikes on the shoulders and it won't be a problem.

Thanks again for the use of your Sena SD84. I used it all day saturday with Instructor Tony and then with a student on sunday. The results can be seen here:

Thanks to Rick for explaining the process of clearing a previous pairing. I would never have been able to get things working without your help. My student thanks you also - he had a great time and learned a lot.

Now its time for 111 to tell us about his day!
