Damn I was sitting home building a kayak trailer. Would have rather been piddling around.

Are you positive it was pneumonia? Did it actually show up on Xrays?

No, it wasn't pneumonia, got x-ray back yesterday. Just a nasty upper respiratory fungus. Last time I was like this it was walking pneumonia, so I was theorizing. A little better this morning, just waited too dang long to get an antibiotic.

The reason I asked is because my mother had a nasty cough that she kept going to the doctor and eventually the ER for and they always said she had pneumonia even though nothing was on the xray. It turned out she had coronary heart disease. Now, she has two stints in her heart!

My older sister for about the last year was also having problems catching her breathe and was repeatedly treated for bronchitis and pneumonia over the past year. On one of her trips to the doctor after her vacation to Myrtle Beach, they did a more extensive exam and concluded that she has small cell lung cancer.

I know women have different symptoms than men when it comes to heart issues but this seems to be something that the doctors tend to just overlook because they are only treating the symptoms and not the cause. If this is something that most doctors (family) overlook or brush aside, than most people aren't aware of the symptoms that may lead one believe it is bronchitis or pneumonia they have but when indeed it may be something more.

I'm already an 11 year cancer survivor, so there is always the possibility. My 6 month scans coming up in a few weeks, though I go through this crud just about every year. Had an auto stem cell transplant a decade ago, so my immune system isn't what it needs to be. I take monthly treatments to boost it. Just happy to be fighting the fight, no matter what it is. I think I'll post up a story I wrote for our newspaper a few years ago...it might make for interesting reading for some, maybe encouragement for others somewhere in their life. Nothing I talk about a lot unless someone asks, or I run across a new cancer patient who I see struggling.
