Moderate Ride - Saturday, July 11, 9:00 AM

Post by dufremle » Thu Jul 09, 2015 10:10 am

FWMR Club Ride

Meetup: Sonic on Clifford St. in White Settlement
Kick stands up: 9:00 AM
Ride Leader: Dufremle

This will be a Moderate pace ride. Moderates are great for riders who want a slightly faster pace than beginners but still slow enough to be relaxed and comfortable on any sized bike, with a passenger, or learning to ride with the group. The pace for a moderate ride is at or near posted speed limits. On a Moderate ride the ride leader tries to keep a closer eye on the group and adjust the speeds appropriately.

Please be dressed appropriately, helmet, gloves, over the ankle shoes and long pants.

We will leave Sonic at 9 and take the long way to Ponder for lunch at Ranchman's. I expect to get to Ponder around noon or so. Mostly straight back to town from there. Rick can get his cow balls fix. :D

Is it OK to wear jeans? I'll be wearing a mesh Jacket but have not purchased motorcycle pants yet.

On a moderate it's fine to wear jeans, I used to all the time (now that I have mesh I stick with those). Jeans get awfully hot in the summer and the seam on the seat hurts eventually, plus if you do go down, you'll tear up a little bit of skin but you'll have trendy jeans ;)

Hope to get some mesh pants soon. I should be able to make it for the ride. I'll confirm by Friday.

This will happen in mesh too, unless they zip together. That is the part that gets you...where the pants and jacket are separate. I used to wear jeans all the time until I wrecked in them. They held up great (except for some holes around the back pockets). The problem was the jacket came up and my jeans were pulled down, thereby exposing the tramp stamp area of my back. That is where I lost some skin. Good thing it grows back!!

In case you've been asleep on the boards, and Cycle Gear has some of their less expensive stuff on sale also.

Dammit, not sure why I can't get the link to work. Check out the last page on the Motorcycle Superstore Deal of the Day thread (also includes Cycle Gear stuff) under Tech Tips/Hardware and Riding Gear.

I thought they were fine on the last ride other than a minor incident on 377 in Granbury. I am not exactly sure but the brake lever touches the handgrip or almost does. Fixxer found that when he was putting the bike up last weekend.
