You can now buy old military Humvees, for as low as $5000.

That is pretty cool. A buddy of mine had one of those, but he said that parts would fail on it pretty regularly, and he ended up selling it.

I saw a bunch with even less mileage that that. Most seemed to have less that 30k miles, but that's also all off road mileage and they are all nearly 30 years old. It's also an auction with 5 days to go, I bet the better ones will go up in price quite a bit towards the end of the auction.

Dart actually had a huge auction a couple of months ago and you could get a mid-90's dart bus with less than 50k miles on them for around $1000.

The Humvees are being retired from service to they were going to just be scrapped but a company stepped in and said they'd sell them and the gov. gets 75% of the sale price. They also do not come with a title, although they have changed things so you can get a form to fill out and get a title for it. Another hurdle is they are not street legal in most states and apparently they do not have model years assigned to them so it's a little difficult for states to determine what regulations they need to meet. Cali being the example sighted in the article I read, there's currently so way for them to meet any emission requirements.

This is not the only auction. They have several thousand of them and are auctioning them off in small batches.

Club bus! We could take about 1/2 of it and make room to haul bikes and junk, leave the front half as is.

Yeah those are mainly going to be farm trucks, they don't make good drivers anyways.

Now if I had 45,000 acres and need something just as capable as a side by side but man sized, it'd be one of these.

Now a Hummer H1, that's something I can get behind. And before anyone says they're the same, they aint. About like saying a 1500 Silverado is the same as a 3500 dually silverado.

That's what the owners of Motoliberty did. That big motoliberty bus they use to haul their stuff to various shows and tracks is like a late 60's retired greyhound bus that they got and gutted out. They even put a couple of bunk beds in it for the overnight trips.

The original Hummer and the Humvees were built on the same assembly line and were identical till they split to have the civilian interior installed and painted.

Not very comfortable, but, considering some of the off roading we've been doing, we may need one. ;)

There isn't much room on short buses. I don't think he will complain about it.

Pretty sure that "End Use Certificate Required" part relates to civilians not being able to buy them. I bet they can only go to LEOs or fire stations or something.

I think that that is a document that says "Rhino is buying this for Rhino, and Rhino has no intention of transferring it to the Tamil Tigers".
