The popping and crackling is almost constant, even when only 2 or 3 units are paired. It just tends to drop less.

Thanks Shaun. This is great. However, we don't normally connect like that. We have been using the new process where you link them up through the phone app. Should we be using this way instead? We can test this way on the ride on Sunday.

Some other questions:

When one person in the middle drops out, how do you reconnect them all?

Is this way recommended for linking multiple users instead of linking through the app? (I sort of asked this above)

Can they do a video linking 8 devices using the app?

That's old school - we have been using the app and group intercom isntead of the series manual paring like this.

We can go back and try this but I'm betting the result will be the same.

sounds like it would be best to try the old school method and see the difference.

Old school pairing today and there were just 3 of us on and it was still just as crackly as using the app and we lost connection with the Jim several times.

Is it maybe time to systematically remove one unit at a time? Jim and Rick have been on about every ride. Maybe that's another good place to experiment.

Funny you mention this because I was thinking that Rick and I have no issues but as soon as Jim joins in, that is when all the problems occur. I know it is coincidence but it does seem to get crackly and all when a third person joins and just gets worse when you add more people. (it is Jim's fault) :)

Did anyone get video of the ride so we can hear the interference?

Nothing has changed no matter how we pair the coms (whether it is old school or with the cell phone app).

Did you try pairing without Jim in the loop?

Yeah, surprisingly it never dropped and very little interference, except when distance became an issue.. Jim and I manually synced with Rick and stayed paired pretty much the whole time. Granted I only have the SHM-10, and they both have the 20's. Maybe it's just when you get 3+ 20's together that they start having problems.

I'll say though, that for some reason when Keve and I tried to pair our 10's, it took like 10 tries before they would pair with each other, although I've never had any issues pairing with anyone else, and I don't think he's ever had issues with pairing with anyone else either, but for some reason ours didn't want to connect to each other.

Ricky is having trouble getting his 20s paired to his BMW issued Garmin while his phone is paired, and apparently it's a problem BMW-wide. He says everyone is raising hell over it on BMW boards.

We communicated all the way from Plano to Stephenville, me on my phone via my car bluetooth, and him on the 20s. I was amazed at how well I heard him and the fact that didn't hear his bike, wind, or anything else. All he was using was one of the supplied mics with the factory sock on it...no tape or anything else to muffle it further. He could hear my radar really well also.
