I had an iridium once, unless they changed the plan options you have to be a rich man to afford minutes for the damn thing.

why would you need one fixxer?

I got it for free so I was like fuck yea I'm going to use this thing.

Then I checked into the plans and I was like ebay here I come. I sold it to a pilot.

it would be super bad ass to have one, but i couldn't think of a time i would ever need it. Kind of like that nice hand held gps i have...never used it. I can't even remember how to to work it

All of our helicopter crews in Afghanistan had Iridiums and we issued them to all of the remote sites in case their primary satellite systems went down. We had one guy rack up $250,000 in data charges surfing porn on a portable BGAN system in one month.

Frankly, I consider that a good use for $250,000 compared to a lot of things the government spends on. At least the dude was happy in his deployment!
