Sounds fine for Honda. The 600rr isn't going away. They are just choosing not to lose money on making a Euro 4 version that doesn't make a profit.

What I read into this a little, and I don't doubt that it will be an eventuality for most of the 600CC inline four bikes is that both the customer and manufacturer continue to realize that this category is withering away as manufacturers have started offering better small displacement sporting options, and with the exception of Honda, Yamaha & Suzuki the middleweight category continues to grow in displacement, at least to minor degrees. Both of these I personally think are good, but then I've never really been a 600CC inline four fan. But I'm old.

I thought this was interesting also:
Triumph Daytona 675
MCN understands the next Daytona (still at least a year away) will ditch the 675cc inline three-cylinder motor and go up in capacity to a 765cc motor to make it an even better road bike.

That's not how I read that article. Sounds like Honda is shutting down the 600rr all together.

The way I understand it, it looks bad for basically all 600s. You kinda have to wonder if some of the regulations being put out have the goal to get rid of bike and such. Not trying to be all conspiracy theory and all but if you think about it. Everyone knows that people wouldn't allow you to come out with a law that says no more motorcycles (like other stuff... guns and such). Instead they make it harder and harder on the companies that make the product to be able to make money till they finally pull the plug on the project.

Sad, but not surprising. With the liter bikes getting lighter and lighter and the 600's getting more and more expensive and track focused it's not surprising they are not selling well.

Take another look. I think that you need to keep in mind that MCN is a magazine form England, and that the Euro 4 standards are unique to Europe. I see no reason why Honda would stop one of their most popular models in the rest of the world, when it doesn't pencil out for a small market.

MCN’s Japanese source told us: “It’s not been an easy decision to make for some at Honda because the CBR600 is a bike that has had a great deal of importance to the company over the years but the fact is this model isn’t selling in the numbers needed to make it viable for another model to be developed.
This line to me sounds like they are calling it quits.

It probably means they are not going to do any changes and keep changing colors and selling till they don't sell anymore. Nothing new really. lol.

Who cares, Honda's behind in times as it is, my favorite line in the whole article :).

This is all Rick's fault. Telling people that 600's don't make good street bikes. Single handedly killed the whole class.

Can't they just let the current model linger on for a decade past relevancy like the CBR1000RR? :HeadScratch:

That will save on development costs.

I thought they already did that. Guess they can continue to do it until they stop selling altogether.

I should be ready for one by then. And then I can pick up one of the last new ones for like 7-8 grand.

There you go, that's a good plan. Seriously, still a great bike, it just lacks the nanny.

And actually if they keep producing it, but not developing it, prices for them could come down and the demand for them might pick back up. Sure it might lag 10 years or so in tech, but if the price is also the same as 10 years ago I'd buy one.

Dude, where you been? Yes, it's real, and it's only like 100HP or something ridiculous...but you CAN spend money above the $184k to make it fast.
