My Signature...

Post by shilka99 » Tue Oct 11, 2016 5:04 pm

In case anyone was wondering, my contract with California Superbike School is up. The training was incredible, I learned a lot. Not just about riding but about coaching and psychology as well. I memorized the curriculum and its locked in my brain now.
But I also learned a few things I didn't like. Suffice to say scientology is a gruesome cult. And if I never have to read another book by l. ron hubbard again it will be too soon.

L.Ron Hubbard wrote some textbooks on psychology and 'how to learn' and the school uses them as required reading. Keith Code is a long term scientology member, most of the senior coaches are too. Rumor has it that you cant progress in the school unless you join the church. No thanks. I'm not drinking the coolade

I would like to see a credible degree of his. His PhD is not credible, hence the reason the degree mill he received it from was shut down.

If you don't agree with it you don't have to work there. I don't think they can force you to join the church, but they can ask that you read whatever they want for training purposes. Especially if they use those methods in their training.

So I mentioned that I'm no longer under contract to CSS to a few people, and wouldnt you know I'm now scheduled to teach at the BMW RR fest at COTA later this month. And if things go well, it might turn into a regular gig!

CSS situation sounds like one to stay away from. I would have never guessed, but then again they are California based.

Shaun, do they incorporate the Scientology BS into their classroom sessions (are the students introduced to it) or are the instructors the only ones subjected to that BS?

When I was a student it was never mentioned. But the religion issue was raised immediately after the head coach told me I passed my tryout. He told me not to worry. His exact words were;

"its not as bad as people say".

A few days later I got my training material in the mail and the first thing I saw was the book written by L. Ron Hubbard.

I knew Keith was a scientologist - his race bike in the 90's had dianetics in huge letters on the side. Not subtle.
While I was doing my training I found some people who were ex-css coaches and they both said that only coaches who join the church are selected for advancement. And if you dont join within 3 years you dont get to teach anymore. Of course in the contract employee system this is totally legal.

The worst thing about all this is the treatment of gay people in the church. At least one of the coaches is gay but he goes to incredible lengths to hide it in order to retain his position in the church and the school...

It is a cult like most religions. That sucks that you didn't find out until afterwards. You think that would be something that they would be upfront about but then again, I guess they wouldn't get many people to be coaches.

I was wanting to attend a CSS, which is why I was wanting to know if the students were subjected to it.

I did a CSS class back in '02 and nothing regarding any religion was ever mentioned.
