First I'm glad I have a spot, last few track days have been a total blast! Second I'm just an old dog trying to learn a new trick without breaking a leg. I think I am doing better with the lines and braking, but I need to keep working on corner speed among many other items. I better get my act together, I hear Jeff is getting close don't want to be all alone in level 1. Will the new RSV4 be ready to go?fixxervi6 wrote:So what are you, sandbagging?Tooner wrote:Wow, level one sold out already??? Glad most of you guys are Level 2!

I'm there for the make up also. Don't worry Shane I'll be in level one with you till the cows come home. Y'all leave me after a lap or two anyway. Next year ZX-6R though, then y'all can leave me after 4 or 5 laps.

The 10-day forecast I am looking at has the overnight lows in the 60's. Has anyone ever camped there at Cresson? If so, did you have any issues, concerns or recommendations for staying overnight?

My major concern is heat, if it doesn't get down to at least the low to mid 60's don't sleep, a secondary concern is the uncomfortable nature of sleeping in a tent.

So it looks like Jeff, Matt and me? Jeff, I assume you are setting up tonight as am I, so same plan? Set up Cans of P (redneck plural for Canopies) as close as possible to the classroom? I may leave my bike down there tonight just to make it a little easier in the morning.

I had the best day yet on the 1.7. Weather was great, despite being sold out a good number of people did not show up. No one from our group went down, I don't know if anyone went down the whole day. It was a little windy, but all in all a great day!

Re: MSRC 1.7 Oct 2nd
We had a good group, Matt, Shane, and me from the club. A couple of non-club folks we have gotten to know set up with us (Justin, Victor, Nick). It was a good time. Even though it was not my best track performance, it was much better than being at work.
I had fun but felt off much of the day. I'm certain I didn't break any speed records. Part of it, I'm sure, was just being tired or something, but I also had the bike setup by Roger first thing and it took a while to get used to it. By the end I was feeling pretty good but still wasn't burning up the track (I haven't actually looked at lap times yet). I did go back to Roger a couple times for tweaks. I'm not saying better or worse yet, but different enough that it required me to re-learn the bike. The bike was less stable, but more agile, or more to the point, more sensitive to my inputs (both intentional and unintentional). Given the big wide solid bars on the bike, the move may have been a little too far towards agile, at least for being done all at once. Also, he stiffened up the suspension (just from a quick eyeball it looks like he went to 80% of full pre-load on front and rear) and suggested that my next move would be stiffer springs. The bike wasn't wallowing before by any means, but now I feel a lot more of the track and it was taking attention trying to figure out what to ignore and what was useful information. Now that the day is over I'm going to go measure sag and then determine where all the settings ended up and figure out what changes I want to try next time. It may end up being that this is a really good track setup and I just need time with it. But I do think it would be too harsh for long rides on the street.
I do not recall the trucks rolling at all throughout the day.

Did he tell you what he set the sag to?
I can tell you now, just cause I can guarantee it, back off the rebound damping a bit on the rear for sure and maybe on the front

Re: MSRC 1.7 Oct 2nd
I wish they made a GSX-R450, so I don’t have to add a bunch of stuff. Other than that did most of the track in 4th, 5th and 6th. Tried to shift up to 7 a few times so that was new. Not too hot, had a blast, I can leave the bike, got plenty of credit, and ride in 3 weeks just lubing the chain...

You block off one cylinder and you get 450cc. Put down like 75 to the wheel and they qualify for this obscure racing class in some far off league, with the idea that you get a newer bike with better parts. I've actually thought about it. What year, miles is yours?

a 600 is weak enough that you don't need to block a cylinder even if you could - they are gutless as they are, however it would would eat a 500 without breaking a sweat.WickerMan wrote:You block off one cylinder and you get 450cc.
