Re: How much a MotoGP and Superbike cost
I would love to see a race with those same pro riders but on bikes taken straight from a dealership (properly broke in) and raced to see how much slower the times would be and which "stock" bikes would hold up the best. Maybe this has already been done.
I can't guarantee the info on this site is perfect, but..

"Compared to MotoGP, World Superbike machines are slower, heavier and much more like the bikes you see on the road. The series regularly races at the same tracks as MotoGP, providing us with a good comparison of lap times. At Motorland Aragon, for example, this year’s WSB pole position for race two was a 1:49.884, compared to 1:46.635 for MotoGP."
So in this example, the MotoGP bike runs a lap 3.231 seconds faster than the WSB.....and that is without switching the riders. --like if Rick or Mike or... got on my CBR and I got on their bike they would still be faster. interesting

Re: How much a MotoGP and Superbike cost
And I thought I read a few years ago that time deltas between the two varied dramatically based on the track and that some tracks the WSB guys were just as fast or faster. The conclusion of the article was the two bikes were very close and it really came down to riders and that the most cost effective way to improve your race teams lap times was to higher a better rider.
