Hello

Post by Ultimate One » Mon Dec 04, 2006 9:00 pm

I'll be moving to Grand Prairie in a few months and just wanted to check in and see what kind of people ride out there. Hopfully looking to maybe riding with some groups to get to know the place better. Does North Texas have a big sportbike community? Do you guys have more than just one bike night a month? I see that this is a new forum, did you guys move from a different site?

Yes, there is a pretty good sized Sportbike community. Saddly though the vast majority are more into stunting, rather then the good, fast, and safe riding.
Ultimate One wrote:Do you guys have more than just one bike night a month?
Yes, in the riding season we have a bike night twice a month, 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.

Yes, we had a different site, and different forums. The old forums were free, but there were several adds and various stuff we had no control over.

Welcome to the forums and once you get here you'll have to come on a few rides with us. This is one of the best group of guys I've ever riden with. We ride fast but safe and know when and where to do what we do

Welcome to the boards, this is a great group to ride with. There is something for everyone regardless of your riding style and ability.

I'm not into stunting all that much myself. Now I like to watch others do the stunting, however I've found that I enjoy the pleasure of the ride. I’m currently living in Jacksonville, FL. I can tell you that we have only straight roads and no hills, it sucks big time. I have a 03’ Honda 954. The track that we have here is called Jennings GP. It’s the only place that you can get some nice curves.

Welcome to the boards. We have a few tracks around:
Motorsport Ranch, Cresson
Motorsport Ranch, Houston
Texas World Speedway, College Station
Hallett, OK

And there is a new one currently being built that would be closer to your destination. I think its just North of Dallas (?) but I cant remember the name.

From what I hear, the roads here are much more curvacious than FL, but we are still lacking imo. The ones we know, we hit with all the more enthusiasm because we have to ride a little ways to get to them.

Welcome! In addition to what everyone has mentioned regarding the roads, we also have at least one big rides (next year may have two!), which we usually go for around 1000 miles. The traditional ride is riding up in the mountains of Arkansas, which is an absolute blast. I think there is talk about heading down to hill country in the early part of the season next year

We have a great group of people and a good sportbike community.
We are out of fort Worth..obviously and the Dallas community is even bigger but Fort Worth holds its own.

Welcome to the boards! Hope your move to Tx is a smooth one. Once you get settled in, plan on heading west and joining us for a fun day of riding. At the very least, we can help you get headed in the right direction for an awesome day on MSR's track.

Dave, You're just pissed because I had to sick Jeaves on you to get you to quit chasing young chicks in leathers!

Honestly, somehow I've gotten the Preppy label because I'm the only one in the group that has a Beemer and isn't afraid to ride it. Hey, if you guys want to talk PREPPY ... What about Jose and his 999???? :-o
