Intermediate ride next weekend, Saturday 4/3

Post by sckego » Sun Mar 28, 2010 5:50 pm

I'm planning leading an intermediate ride on either Saturday or Sunday next weekend, depending on how the weather shapes up. Current weather shows highs in the 70s and 40% chance of rain for both days. Assuming one day or the other starts to clear up, we'll head out in search of the Best Hamburger In Texas.*

This will be a faster-paced ride, so please only plan on joining if you've been on at least one ride with us before, and if you think you'll be comfortable keeping a more elevated pace through the rural twisty bits.

Final date and time to be decided once the weather situation becomes clearer, hopefully by mid-week. And if both days stay nasty-looking, well... maybe I'll flip a coin.

Details!

Saturday, 4/3/10
Meet at the Sonic on Clifford Street in White Settlement. Riders brief at 8:40, rolling out at 8:45... show up early if you want coffee or a bite to eat. I'm planning on getting there about 8:15. Lunch should be at around 1130-noon, and we should be back in the Metroplex by 3 at the latest. We'll be doing ~250 miles, with 80 miles between gas stops, so please show up with a full tank and refill when you get the chance! Proper attire is also highly encouraged.

See you guys there...

I'll probably have plans since its easter weekend, and only possibly have my bike back by then anyway.

Hopefully I can have my tires mounted by Saturday and I can use this as a review-ride.

I'm going to try and make it on this one. Need a front tire though. After an attempted theft (having my ignition wires cut), I'm finally on two wheels again.

If I can find a decent deal on a front before the weekend I'm definitely in.

Yeah, I saw your bike at Cyclewerkz a few weeks ago and they told me what happened. Sucks, but at least you still have your bike and are back up and running!

I have tentative plans to spend an hour flying aerobatics on Saturday, but if that falls through, I'm in.

Bird, I didn't know you flew. Now the handle makes more sense.

I have a 1947 Cessna 140 for sale if you are interested. Or if you know someone who is, send them my way. This puppy is in terrific condition.

I dont think Bird flys, I think he is going up in someone elses plane.

The handle actually comes from his old bike, he had a Blackbird before the 1000RR.

The 'Bird' IS from my first (somewhat) sport bike ... like the 'Busas, we referred to her as a Sport Pig ... but she WAS FAST. I haven't flown in years and never got licensed. Next weekend is an INTRO flight with me flying most of the hour, doing aerobatics until I lose my cookies or we run out of gas ... whichever comes first. :-) REALLY looking forward to it after doing aeorbatics under a para-glider in New Zealand last year. There's just something about that adrenaline rush that I can't shake. :( Next thing you know, I'll be wanting to snap roll the Viper. :SideSplittingLaughter:

Haha, indeed. Leaning towards Sunday, just in case the storms from Friday decide to show up late. I want to call the place tomorrow to be sure they'll be open on Sunday, though... I'll post up final details by tomorrow night.

I can do Saturday, and would love to go, but Sunday I wouldn't be able to play long, Thriller is coming in from out of town that afternoon.

I wouldn't suggest goin out on easter sunday! Not only do you have church traffic, but now you will have 2-3 times as much as normal church traffic plus all those doin some sort of Easter brunch blah blah blah thing!!!

Insurance covered it and now its as good as new. Hopefully my new tire will be in soon. I don't trust the one on there now. It's ok for cruising around town but at speed out in the countryside...not so sure.

Fingers are crossed.
