New to this stuff
I am new to the world of forums and still a noob on the bike. My name is Becky and I live in the Fort Worth/Watauga area (with 3 sometimes 4 kids---when my husband acts like one).
I just did a 2-up ride with you guys this past Saturday with my husband (Fixxervi6). I bought a 2010 Ninja 250 at the end of June and took the MSF course in July. 3 months later I had my first wreck, that would have totaled her, if FixxerVi6 did not fix her on his own. Since my wreck, I lost my trust in myself to trust my bike and the road but I absolutely love riding and I don't think I could give it up (not without a fight anyway). I am slowly getting some trust back and would like to eventually be able to get my knees down without fear of my bike doing something I don't want it to do (even though I know it is almost always the rider that causes the bike to do it). Once I gain my trust back with my bike and the road AND I become a lot better, I would like to upgrade my "baby bike" to a "real bike" like a GSXR 600 or Fixxer has been looking into the Triumph Daytona 675. We will see how it goes.

Re: New to this stuff
Welcome! Glad you finally signed onto the boards. Happy to hear your not giving up on riding, in my opinion nothing bears seat time. Ride as much as you can, the more miles you have under your belt the more confidence you'll have- in both your own skills and the bikes.

Just don't try to get both knees down at the same time.Telomere wrote:I am slowly getting some trust back and would like to eventually be able to get my knees down

Re: New to this stuff
I've been riding for a couple years now and have never gotten close to getting a knee down.
Glad you are still wanting to ride. If you want to leave the hubby at home and just ride with another chick, let me know. I can probably find us some decent roads.

Thanks guys!! I know my confidence will eventually return. I just hope it doesn't take a long time because I would like to do a track day this fall.

Welcome to the boards. Just keep riding, and ride where you are comfortable, the more seat time you get in, the more confident you'll become. Just stay within your limits, where you are comfortable, and that limit will keep moving forward.

Re: New to this stuff
welcome.
you can talk with my boy grinner about his fall and his experience taking time off (a personal decision) and about riding the track. i'm sure you'll get great advice.
i hear ya about the upgrade. i don't personally have a bike yet, but i know that once i get one, i want a gladius to keep the zuki in the family. (of course i'd need a baby first, but my boy may beat me to that punch, so i'd probably borrow his. we're still debating who will get it first, lol).
and blizz is a great rider. y'all would have fun. if i ever get around to taking the msf, i'm sure i could borrow their (blizz and snail's) 250 - a.k.a. the club whore - and join, if y'all were able to handle a slow one tagging along
any ways, glad you're here and sticking around. you'll have a blast.

The 250's can hang with a moderate ride no problem - just don't slow down for the curves, this way when all of the bigger bikes are braking/accelerating for the turns you just go right through, this way you don't have to try catching up in the straights

Welcome!
If you were not a little nervous after a crash like that, it would be...scary. As a biker, you will learn to deal with a more input and feedback from the road and the vehicle than you are used to. It's like one of those songs that just seems like noise the first time you hear it, but with repetition reveals itself to be a sublimely complex and melodic pattern. The great thing is that you never stop learning the song....or being a little nervous.

Yeah, yeah but I guess a 2-up is better than trying to keep upStriple wrote:Welcome aboard! Wait, I know you! About time that you showed up for a ride.
Nick, I am feeling a lot more comfortable on my bike...now that it is warmer. I wonder if the temps make me feel better about riding? Fixxer and I went for a ride Saturday and I just wasn't feeling it so I didn't push it eventhough we did that route before.
Now that is warm out, I am ready to ride ALL THE TIME
