Would it hurt if?
I got my new chain and sprockets in today. I don't have a rivet press to put the new chain on. I already have the bike torn down and new sprockets on. Would it hurt to ride it ten miles with the old chain but new sprockets???

Re: Would it just if?
nope, not at all 10 miles isn't enough to matter

Re: Would it hurt if?
How did you get the old chain off to change the sprockets? How did you put the old chain back on?

Re: Would it hurt if?
Once you take the wheel off there is plenty of slack in the chain, can't you pull the sprockets off without completely taking the chain off?

Re: Would it hurt if?
I guess it's possible. Would depend on how much room there was around the front sprocket. I thought it was always pretty tight.

Yes, I've had the 250 apart, wheel and front sprocket, with the chain still on there.DarcShadow wrote:Once you take the wheel off there is plenty of slack in the chain, can't you pull the sprockets off without completely taking the chain off?

Re: Would it hurt if?
There was plenty of room. I loosened the front sprocket with the rear still in place. Then pulled the front sprocket off. Price of cake way more than enough slack.

Re: Would it hurt if?
Speaking of this i've gotten the front sprocket in and the chain....the rear sprocket isn't in yet. I think i'm going to put the new -1 sprocket in today if i can. Then finish up the rest later
