I think Jim is talking about voice control, which has nothing to do with AVRCP and everything to do with what commands your phone supports and whether it responds to the phone button press with voice control.NickS wrote:Jim, it works for 3 separate OS's here with no issues, see my previous post.
If Jim is trying to use iPhone voice commands on an Android device, which it sounds like he was trying to do, it's understandable if it didn't work.
Android probably uses voice commands like "mount playlist Gaga /dev/bluetooth -AVRCP -shuffle -repeat" instead of "Play Lady Gaga".
Re: Sena SMH10 GROUP BUY! - COMPLETED
My SIII commands are pretty much exactly like iphone, right down to "send a message to so and so"
The problem I had with my scala and SIII is the "mobile activation" button didn't activate the voice command on my phone.
The way I made it work is I use my phone mount on my bike and just reach up with my left hand and double click the button manually to activate voice.
I haven't tried it with the Sena yet. I hope it works with the Sena, if it does I'll really be using the hell out of driving mode and such.

if i single press the phone button, my phone goes in to voice command mode while paired with the SENA, I can call, send text, launch apps and whatnot....no problems.

I never said voice commands. While playing a song using RockPlayer Lite, the Jog Dial button does nothing. According to the iphone specific video it should pause the music. It doesn't. Not sure if it is the app, phone or Sena which doesn't do what it is supposed to. My phone is also using Bluetooth 2, while the Sena is BT 3. I may be upgrading my phone this weekend, so maybe more stuff will work. The new phone is BT 4.

It's probably the app. I don't think those controls work on an iPhone with other music apps like Pandora or IHeartRadio or anything. It's only the built-in music player.

Jim, when I had an Android phone, I could only get the AVRCP stuff to work with the native media player, YMMV. BT 3 is fully backward compatible with BT 2.0.

I'm also using CyanogenMod ROM. That may have something to do with it.

Re: Sena SMH10 GROUP BUY! - COMPLETED
It's probably the phone, just tried the Sena paired to my Motorola. I used the stock media player, Pandora, Slacker, tuned in, and AOR (the last two are online radio services). I can use the jog dial/button to control play, pause, forward, rewind, and stop and volume too. I did have to use voice commands to open the media players/apps. I also had to set up my phone to go to voice commands when I push the phone button on the Sena. And bypass security lock when in Bluetooth mode, so even when my screen timesout and locks I can control my phone via Bluetooth and voice commands still work.dufremle wrote:I never said voice commands. When I make or receive a call while listening to music, before the music pauses the volume turns down. When the call is over the volume raises as the music starts back up at the same spot it stopped.

So far I'm very impressed with the Sena's. Pairing was effortless and controlling the iPhone's mp3 player is easy. If the intercom and mic work this well it will be a great unit. Thanks again Fixxer for organising this

I noticed some wind noise issues with the mic between helmets with crapy skirts, when I put my hand "under my chin" it cleared up, I'm going to try taping my bike on the next run, that should do the trick.
The helmet I put this on has a less than steller chin skirt

Additional foam over the mic may help that as well. I had a tone of foam around at one time, I'll see if I can find it if anyone wants/needs some.

Re: Sena SMH10 GROUP BUY! - COMPLETED
I've got a couple questions that perhaps you guys know the answer to. These are probably more general/phone mechanics questions than Sena specific ones.
I've got it paired with a galaxy s2 skyrocket. I don't have any music on my phone at this point so I can't use the built in music player so I've been using the Pandora app. If someone calls me, the call will interrupt Pandora, and it will resume after the call is over.
However, it looks like that I've got to open the voice recognition program by hand if I want to make an outgoing call. When I do that, it turns Pandora off. Is there some way that the voice recognition can stay active all the time and not interrupt Pandora to make an outgoing call?
Also, I'd much prefer to use my ipod for music than my phone. Can I sync both the phone and the ipod to the Sena simultaneously? Will it mute the music when someone calls?
Thanks guys!

I don't know Android so I can't answer the voice recognition question.
Music and phone are two different Bluetooth profiles, so you should technically be able to pair both your iPod and your phone. If I were you I'd try pairing the iPod first, then the phone so the phone doesn't take over both profiles.

I have an older android droid x, and when I press the phone button on the sena it interrupts everything and brings up the voice commands on the phone.

Brian, if the ipod has bluetooth, then yes. The Sena can pair with multiple devices, as long as you use a different profile for each paired device. For instance, one device paired with the AADP (music) profile and another with the headset profile is no problem.

Re: Sena SMH10 GROUP BUY! - COMPLETED
I'd still want to see how well they work on our standard group rides but I have to admit for a small group like we have right now down at the 3 sisters they work very well, I've been very plesently surprised. We all did put some extra foam over the mic and it made a pretty noticable difference in cutting out wind and letting voice get through better. There were a couple of times when we did get far enough away that we lost connection but they re joined pretty well.
I'm not convinced I need/want to buy one yet, but I am starting to lean that way a bit.

I think I'll go ahead and pull the trigger and get one of these. Since the discount we get is for a package of 2, anyone else out there want one that missed the group buy?
