You may want to consider upgrading to SS lines, as the difference is significant. The Daytona comes stock with those.

Yeah, I would say out of any upgrade, SS lines gives you the most noticable difference in performance.

Everyone already knew this. Didn't we tell you to bleed your brakes a while ago? Like at the motorcycle show last year? :((

And for an additional upgrade (that everyone knows about), get yourself some speed bleeder (= one-way) valves. They're dirt cheap and turn the bleeding of brakes into a nothing job.

I hadn't heard of one-way bleeders before. I'll look into those for my next bike...

Basically, the one-way valves (i.e., speed bleeders) replace the OEM valves, which are two-way valves. The two-way valves allow for brake fluid and air to be sucked back into the line, which is why you close the valve before you release the pressure in the system. With a one-way valve, you simply open it once, then pump a few times until the fluid is clear, close the valve, done. Significantly less of PITA, and one of the cheapest "mods" (~$5 per valve) you can do.

Where do you find them for ~$5.. I've never seen them that cheep. That's why I invested the $20 in the one way valve, that I linked to.

I just did a bleed with DOT 5 from that DOT 4 shit.

I think I had more air than fluid in my lines.

if you used a speed gun it makes it look like a ton of air when you really don't

Handle doesn't sink all the way back to the grip now when I squeeze it super hard :D

(I was trying to figure out how to word that so it wouldn't end up in the quotes section, but I just gave up)

DOT 5 is not compatible with DOT 4 unless you completely flush the system. I hope you did that.

We pumped fluid out until the shit coming out of the bleeder was purple (DOT5), that good enough?

And what do you mean not compatible?

yeah, very firm pull with hardly any play at all. Now it's slowly going back to a longer pull and getting a bit squishy like before

I just read about dot 4 and 5 not being compatible as well. Don't really know what it means other than you better not mix because you might not have brakes!

don't see how it would keep you from having brakes, neither fluid will suddenly boil off, and DOT5 is silicon so should be rather inert. My guess is, it'll separate and there is the possibility that the DOT4 will boil off anyway even if its mixed with DOT5. From a temperature standpoint, they for sure aren't compatible.

The silicone in the fluid can cause some older rubber seals to degrade. Keep an eye on it to see if you start losing fluid.

Your bike calls for DOT 4, why would you put in DOT 5? I think 5.1 is compatible with 3/4 because it does not contain silicone.
